Default Rate the last film you watched (1)..

Last film I watched:

Wild at Heart. 7/10. Decent film starring Nicholas Cage, second Lynch film I've watched since 'Blue Velvet' and it was very similar to that with the strong slightly deranged characters. Film reminded me a bit of Sin City.

The Good Shepherd 5/10
Well acted but apart from that I found it a little boring and the characters I didn't care enough about. I found it weird the father and son, the father didn't look much older than the son wasn't convincing to me.

Hairspray 8/10. Good film, love the music, but didn't seem as good as when I saw it at the cinema. I think it's one of those films which really looks better on the big screen.

Rise of the Footsoldier 1/10

Not my cup of tea at all. Gruesomely sickening violence, made worse by knowing it was based on real events. I wasn't too happy with my b/f that night. I wanted to watch Knocked Up

The Punisher (the newest version). I was expecting it to be crap but it was alright, verging on pretty good. Travolta played a weak baddie character very weakly - and is thus adequate in a very weak way - and Thomas Jane was decent enough in the title role, though he possibly wasn't quite menacing enough. The first half is pretty limp until The Punisher has this jaw-dropping fight with a big day-glo wrestler-type guy called 'The Russian' in his apartment. It's probably one of the best fight scenes I've ever seen in a film, and if they ever make a Final Fight flick, they need to check this sequence out - it's proper cartoon ultraviolence done right. That scene alone is a definite 10/10, but overall I'd give this 7.37/10.

Oh, and the ending's better than I expected, too - Travolta gets pwned pretty badly.

^I forgot about 'Meet The Spartans'. I got really pissed last Saturday night and ended up sleeping at a twatty mate's house (in an armchair) and he stuck a pirate DVD on of this.

It's really awful, I felt like a child watching a bomb drop on both his parents watching it. Seriously, disgustingly bad.

It 'satirises' the film '300', and that's it. That's it. So its only reason to exist is that film - assuming you've seen it, and care about it.

Sean Maguire is the main lead, with rippling muscles and a horrible cross-American/Posh English/Estuary English accent and that fat guy from Borat crops up.

There's loads of scattershot jokes, in the same rhythm of Airplane, but they all don't work, and Airplane's shit anyway.

To top it all off, this thing lasts barely longer than an hour, putting it in Casualty territory, and the serious bits with dead people in Casualty are funnier than this.

I hate to say this, because it assumes that anybody is reading this or actually cares, but I really hope nobody on SAUK wastes any money on seeing this shite at the pictures - it is so bad, it defies belief.

Please don't go see this big, big bag of shit at the cinema.

2/10

Ratatouille - Love this film (probably more than the kids) 10/10

Stardust - I'm a sucker for these types of films. Romance (ahh), humour and a bit of drama thrown in for good measure. 8/10

10,000 BC, 7 out of 10.

Quite good as long as you are in the mood for an action blockbuster and aren't worried about historical or socio-geographical accuracy. ie. ancient tribes made up of different races within the same tribe, within walking distance of other differing races.

The CGI was the best I've seen.

Very creepy and unnerving, gave me the chills though out, kept methinking and guessing till the end. Great ending too.

If you liked The Others and Sixth Sense, defo check this out!

I can't wait to see that! I hope to go this weekend.

The last thing I saw was "Planet Terror" - Robert Rodriguez's half of the "Grindhouse" project.

I liked it a lot - 8/10. A lot more fun than "Death Proof" in my opinion.

The comedy-gore thing has been done a few times before ("Brain Dead", "Re-Animator" etc) and the plot is pretty irrelevant but there are some really funny bits in this one.

You'll like it most if you grew up (like I did) reading Fangoria and watching movies by George Romero, John Carpenter, Lucio Fulci and friends.

Stupidly the DVD was missing most of the fake trailers from "Grindhouse". "Werewolf Women of the SS"? How can that not be great?

I don't get that film, is it a true story or not?

If it is, why hasn't more been made of it in the news? From what I've heard about it it sounds quite scandalous.
