Default Signs Someone Has Built An Emotional Wall Up!

What are the signs and characteristics of someone who has built up an emotional wall?

How does one attempt or break it down?

I don't think you can break someone else's wall down ( let me know anyone if you disagree). You have to gradually build up trust between you.

I have real problems with intimacy (mainly due to a fear of shame and humiliation). For me, the symptoms/traits:

- Emotional Numbness.
- Detachment.
- The feeling that nothing is quite real, that nothing really matters.
- The sense of being an observer rather than a participant in life.
- A sense of being overwhelmed, suffocated or invaded when people get too close.
- The feeling that you are just going through the motions of living, that you are only here physically.

^ I can 100% relate to all of those.

I'm much more a fan of emotional chasms though. With a wall, all someone needs is a ladder, but with a nice wide gaping pit they'll be needing some sort of gyrocopter, and that's where the flak cannons come in.

You share personal things, you share your fears, you let the person see you. And you don't give up on them, even when they don't seem interested, you carry on getting in touch, even if it doesn't seem that it's making progress. Staying in touch is saying "I like you, I care for you".
