Default How often do you cry

I was just watching this video and the lady said a major thing that helped her manage her anger was allowing herself to cry.

https://youtu.be/9DgFpeE5r3k

I use to cry as a kid I think at one point I almost became a cry baby as I was just use to it. But I also decided to never cry again after around 10 years old and I have cried a few times as a teen but hardly ever cry. It’s even became hard to cry.

I think deciding to not cry was a big mistake and wonder if it leads to me bottling up emotions that small issues have became big issues for me.

Not very often at all these days, but that is partly because of the medication I'm on which has the odd effect of making it difficult to cry.

I do think crying is a healthy thing, and holding yourself back from doing it when you feel the need to is probably not good.

I’m not actually sure! it’s been a while. December, I think. Yeah, rarely.

I cry from laughing too much quite a bit though!

I'm generally quite an emotional person (some might say neurotic) and I used to cry very easily when I was younger. In recent years I've cried less but, like Dougella, I think that could have something to do with the way antidepressants can dampen down the emotions. That said, I've shed enough tears to last me a lifetime over the last few weeks and think that 2022 might prove to be my biggest year yet for crying.

I’m usually quite numb to any emotion nowadays, but can sometimes be set off in a particularly sad moment of a film. It’s a bit odd that moments in my actual life don’t really upset me, but how some moments in a film can upset me.

In Planes Trains & Automobiles (a comedy film!), John Candy’s “I like me” speech can bring a tear to my eye, as well as the end where Steve Martin’s character realises Candy’s character is alone. I remember Philadelphia really set me off too. That really got to me.

Saying that though, I’ve found myself quite close to tears a lot more these past few months. My personal life and work has been more stressful as of late.

Quite a bit since I came off my anti depressants, but it's not self pitying, more tearfulness from anything i watch on the telly. Im just emotionally sensitive. Pleased with myself that I'm off meds, though I keep watching for signs I might need to go back on them.

Probably at least once a week in response to some mawkish moment in a terrible TV show involving people I don't even really care about. Probably every couple of months in response to the sadness of life.

I find it quite hard now. I used to cry all the time when I was young. It was quite annoying. I would live in fear of crying at work, or at some other inconvenient moment.

^^^^What about the Railway Children? That still gets me.

I went through a stage in my early twenties where I used to cry myself (well, more like a wimper really) to sleep several times most weeks. This was probably when my depression was at it's worst. It still happened in my late twenties but that become more like a few times in any given month, rather than week. Fortunately, I'm pleased to say those occasions are pretty rare now. I can't honestly specifically remember the last time it happened - probably at the very start of the year to hazard a guess.

I've been on Fluoxetine for around four(?) years now and I find crying is quite difficult for me to achieve now. I find myself more 'apathetic' to situations which I know in the past would have probably driven me to having weepy eyes.

I was watching Ghost the other night and had a bit of a blub,
Drink was involved of course,
But, it made me see how really unhappy I am these days
Having a blub does that, it helps you see all the layers of unhappiness sitting under the surface.

Damn you Whoopi, no wonder you went on to star also in star trek, you really are that good.
