Default Your memory of last Summer weatherwise... ?

Am i wrong in thinking last Summer wasn't too bad for heat.. ? There were a few periods of intense heat, nearing 40 and over in many places, but they didn't last long if i remember rightly, a few days to a week. I'm sure we didn't have persistent levels of high temperatures, but i keep seeing and hearing that it was awfully hot in general. My mum said it today.

Some inferno-like hell state where I dreamed of it getting cool enough to be able to function, not to mention sleep at night. Hideous.

It was awful, I had the fan permanently out, bed was being drenched in sweat. It will be the same in a month

Yes! Last year is when the grass was yellow and dead everywhere, and there were almost daily news stories about record-breaking highest temperatures and driest periods.

Forgetting how bad things were as soon as they're over is pretty common though, that's why a lot of people don't bother to buy a fan (or a new and better one or some other kind of cooling equipment) until it gets hot again and everyone else is doing it, rather than before when there's lots of stock available.

Grass dies if it doesn’t rain or isn’t watered. We had drought. Records were broken, I remember, but as I said I don’t think we suffered horrendous lengthy periods of intense heat.

All y’all’s memory is poop

Isn't memory loss one of the symptoms of heat stroke... maybe you had that?

I can still recall
Our last summer
I still see it all
Walks along the Seine
Laughing in the rain
Our last summer
Memories that remain
We made our way along the river
And we sat down in the grass by the Eiffel tower
I was so happy we had met
It was the age of no regret
Oh, yes
Those crazy years
That was the time of the flower-power
But underneath
We had a fear of flying
Of growing old
A fear of slowly dying
We took our chance
Like we were dancing our last dance
I can still recall
Our last summer
I still see it all
In the tourist jam
'Round the Notre Dame
Our last summer
Walking hand in hand
Paris restaurants
Our last summer
Morning croissants
Living for the day
Worries far away
Our last summer
We could laugh and play
And now you're working in a bank
The family man, a football fan
And your name is Harry
How dull it seems
Are you the hero of my dreams?
I can still recall
Our last summer
I still see it all
In the tourist jam
'Round the Notre Dame
Our last summer
Walking hand in hand
I can still recall
Our last summer
I still see it all
Walks along the Seine
Laughing in the rain
Our last summer
Memories that remain

We made our way slowly down the path that led to the stream,
Swaying slightly,
Drunk on the sun, I suppose.
It was a real summer's day.
The air humming with heat whilst the trees beckoned us into their cool green shade.
And when we reached the stream I put a bottle of cider into the water to chill,
Both of us knowing that we'd drink it long before it had the chance.

This is where you want to be,
There's nothing else but you and her,
And how you spend your time.

Walking to parties whilst it's still light outside.
Peter was upset at first but now he's in the garden talking to somebody Polish.
Why don't we set up a tent and spend the night out there?
And we can pretend that we're somewhere foreign,
But we'll still be able to use the fridge if we get hungry, or too hot.

This is where you want to be,
There's nothing else but you and her,
And how you use your time.

We went driving.

This is where you want to be,
There's nothing else but you and her,
And how you use your time.

The room smells faintly of sun tan lotion
In the evening sunlight and when you take off your clothes,
You're still wearing a small pale skin bikini.
The sound of children playing in the park comes from faraway,
And time slows down to the speed of the specks of dust
Floating in the light from the window.
Summer leaves fall from Summer trees.
Summer grazes fade on Summer knees.
Summer nights are slowly getting long.
Summer's going so hurry soon it'll be gone.
So we went out to the park at midnight one last time.
Past the abandoned glasshouse stuffed full of dying palms.
Past the bandstand down to the boating lake.
And we swam in the moonlight for what seemed like hours,
Until we couldn't swim anymore.
And as we came out of the water we sensed a certain movement in the air,
And we both shivered slightly and ran to collect our clothes.
And as we walked home we could hear the leaves curling and turning
Brown on the trees,
And the birds deciding where to go for Winter.
And the whole sound,
The whole sound of Summer packing it's bags and preparing to leave town.
Oh but I want you to stay.
Oh please stay for a while,
Oh I want you to stay,
Oh I want you to stay.

The ground was SCORCHED. I remember planting lots of violas and herbs and there was no saving them. They shrivelled up and couldn't be resurrected.

The fans. Oh, the fans! I hate fans. They were everywhere. It was like being in a horror movie.

The only time in my life I had a cold bath. Before bed. It was incredible.

The entire nation changed colour from satellite images in space, that was the extent of the heatwave and draught. From f**king space, man.
My children's school had to close because of the heatwave.
I put a raw egg on a plate and left it in the garden... the b*tch cooked.
I've still got PTSD from last summer's heatwave.

Lol, this is sounding similar to when we have 'heavy snow'. For a few days everything comes to a standstill, we all marvel at the novelties, everyone has a story about having had to wear five jumpers, all sleep in the same bed, being without food for weeks on end and it's remembered as if it was bitterly cold the entire Winter.

(I will not budge from what i remembered of last Summer )

Oh my gosh I remember getting into my car and being unable to touch the steering wheel being because it was as hot as charcoal.

An accidental lean too far forward and it would have singed my nips clean off.
