yes, I remember those days of everyone desperately trying to find something to belong to, goths, rockers, hippies, etc. It's problalby quite healthy and a necessary part of growing up, sad though that religions don't engage in discussion and argument and doubt, a pity that religions don't make it harder for people to engage with them, almost like some sort of fire test or initiation, or even some form of growth structure or path of spiritual development. perhaps these do exist somewhere but because we are not in that space of awakening they are unknown to the masses?

maybe it just takes a few decades to work out what your life is about . but in the mean time life has moved on so what youve discovered doesnt apply any more . In other words its a bit like old people complaining that things were simpler and better in the "old days"
