More nice messages, thank you all, I will pass on you're well wishes to my gf.

Being a parent is tougher than I could ever have imagined, I have never been more exhausted... But she is absolutely worth it.

Flattery won't fool me into forgiving you for not being under my tree on christmas day like you promised. All I'd have wanted were a few jokes and later you to make me a turkey sandwich to order. And if you behaved yourself, I was even going to offer you the bus fare home.

Too little, too late.

I'm sorry I didn't come round and make your sandwich. I dunno if you've heard, but slavery was abolished in 1833. Just pointing it out, yo.

Congratulations! When my youngest daughter was born, the midwives asked me if I wanted to eat the placenta! I have no idea if that is normal* or some sort of ward humour, but there was a pause during which I very definitely considered wolfing down this huge, purple, pulsating thing that resembled an alien brain. Perhaps they thought it would give me super virility or something.

* A quick google shows it is fairly common. There's probably a market for this. That's it, then; I shall hang around hospital bins, & consort with night staff.

What I never understood was if the placenta bit - the third phase of labour as they call it - hurts like the first and second phases do. I'm kinda of hoping the placenta just kinda plumps itself out like a really big poo and that it's somehow a satisfying release (like a really big poo) rather than paining like **** like the baby. I mean, it's squidgier, right? So it can't be quite as bad?

I was too distracted by my baby to give a shit about the placenta. It's like your baby is there, the ugliest yet most beautiful thing you've ever seen and all you want to do is hold them and stare at them and the midwives are like 'okay, now for the third stage...' and you're like 'what? **** off'.

In my, ahem, "experience", it slithers right out and pretty much births itself. It was curiously satisfying to watch, I can tell you that
