Watching Patrick Stewart creak about on Picard, delivering lines like he's just remembering them as he goes along,..

Makes me feel old, as I clearly recall watching Next Gen in the beginning when he was charging about like a spring chicken, full of vigour.

Doesn't seem like so long ago,...perhaps I've somehow warped forwards in time?

When you scare yourself when looking in the mirror, oooo ya f****r, not doing that for a wee while, and then when you eventually look at yourself again you’ve aged even more given the passage of time and the cycle repeats itself ad-nauseum.

Reminds me of a joke about a petty criminal who was caught by police and taken into an interview room,.. as he recounted tale after tale after tale about all the terrible things he had done, the officer stopped him and said, "hey, wait a minute son, you ain't confessin',...you're boasting!!"

If anyone actually did view life the way HH expects you to believe he does, he wouldn't even be able to post here,...but I'm glad he does,...

As you say, comedy gold,... it's very entertaining.

^I didn’t want to sound too callous but you know how we have a very dark sense of humour up here and that final paragraph hit my funny bone. You have a way with words HH and should consider writing creatively.

Or even worse than that, when you catch up and surpass in the ageing process people who used to look older than you. (If that is what you meant with the above then I apologise). I suppose you have to realise that these folks don’t have wear and tear jobs like the majority of us and do look after themselves as their appearance is an important part of their profession. It would be interesting to like see how fresh faced they’d look if they had to get up at 4:30 am every morning like I did before furlough.

^And all for the pleasure of a few pence above minimum wage! Not in Scotland the middle of summer; it’s broad daylight at that time! Our shift pattern tends to track sunrise so in the winter months I get a lie in........and get up at six! Obviously still dark then, Scotland goes to the other extreme, but we have to stay ahead of golf. If my work mates had their way they’d start earlier, greenkeepers are a different breed.

^ Well I suppose if the sun is up then it counts. You should be paid more for getting up at those kinds of hours though! Golf? You look after a golf course?

Yes, and the adjacent SSSI (site of special scientific interest), an area of coastal cliff tops with interesting rock formations and vegetation communities. If I were better at my job I would seek employment in a nearby golf course which happens to be a non for profit trust and is the oldest and most famous golf course in the world.

It is , just a pity about the pay. Thank god, no, it’s a different course further down the coast. But I have horror stories from within the industry of what his organisation did when constructing the course.

^ I've got Asda turning up this afternoon. Possibly when I should be in a meeting though! (oops)
Can't seem to get another slot with them but the Co-op seem to have a few available when I looked, though they don't let you book ahead by much.

Getting a bit morbid now.

When you’re in the supermarket doing your weekly shop (that in itself is quite a grown up thing to do but isn’t what I’m getting at), and you hear a song you haven’t heard in twenty years.

^ Maybe you're getting old when you notice the shrinkflation. They shrink and yet the price remains 15 shillings or such sum.

^ Shillings! That's when you know you're getting old (says the man who still converts every price into pre-decimal currency).

My father nearly exploded about what he saw as an unfair increase on the price of Mars Bars on the day we went decimal!

^ I thought it would amuse if I mentioned shillings. I think there are a few of us born pre-decimalisation on here. I remember the changeover day quite well, I was off school, so it was either hols or I was off sick. Feb 15th 1971. Funny the things you remember.

I remember that too, I was quite upset because I loved threepenny bits and would no longer be able to have them.

Talking about 'shrinkage', I remember revisiting my old primary school on a 'doors open' day many years ago and being surprised at how small the classrooms were. It was quite comical in fact. The school has long gone now like so much else from my childhood when it comes to buildings and the local geography due to relentless urbanisation.

But when it comes to shrinking biscuits and confectionary, don't you think it's getting out of hand? I mean, it's no longer just a trick of a childhood memory. They really are shrinking - it's not just an age thing. For example Cadbury's Creme Eggs, one bite and they're gone, plus they don't taste good as they used to ( maybe that is an age thing). I guess this phenomenon is being justified on the grounds of combating obesity.
