Re: The 60s music thread
Beach Boys - In My Room - 1964
Poignant lyrics: There's a world where I can go And tell my secrets to In my room In my room In this world I lock out All my worries and my fears In my room In my room Do my dreaming and my scheming lie awake and pray Do my crying and my sighing laugh at yesterday Now it's dark and I'm alone But I won't be afraid In my room In my room |

Re: The 60s music thread
i'm only sleeping - The Beatles ( John Lennon really)
Most listen to this and think it is just a song about wanting to be lazy and get more sleep. I hear it as 'pretending' to be sleeping because you cant face outside and want to be left alone. The outside world is nonsensical and people just do it 'just because' I love this song [Verse 1] When I wake up early in the morning Lift my head, I'm still yawning When I'm in the middle of a dream Stay in bed, float up stream [Chorus 1] Please, don't wake me, no, don't shake me Leave me where I am, I'm only sleeping [Verse 2] Everybody seems to think I'm lazy I don't mind, I think they're crazy Running everywhere at such a speed Till they find there's no need (There's no need) [Chorus 2] Please, don't spoil my day, I'm miles away And after all I'm only sleeping [Bridge] Keeping an eye on the world going by my window Taking my time Lying there and staring at the ceiling Waiting for a sleepy feeling [Chorus 2] Please, don't spoil my day, I'm miles away And after all I'm only sleeping [Bridge] Keeping an eye on the world going by my window Taking my time [Verse 1] When I wake up early in the morning Lift my head, I'm still yawning When I'm in the middle of a dream Stay in bed, float up stream [Chorus 1] Please, don't wake me, no, don't shake me Leave me where I am, I'm only sleeping |

Re: The 60s music thread
^ Great tune. I haven't heard that for a while. i haven't listened to anything of The Doors for ages. It would've been interesting to see what they came up with had Jim not passed. Mind you, wasn't he having a break from it all at the time of his death.. ? Probably would've gone on to do something else within music, but i don't think there was any Doors music coming anytime soon when he did die.
One thing that put me off a little about The Doors was that ****ing organ! It was a unique part of their sound but too much for my liking. |

Re: The 60s music thread
Sadly, i think they may have just come into their 'golden age' if their last two albums were anything to go by.
Lol, glad i'm not the only one! |

Re: The 60s music thread
Awesome. The chaos in this song, brilliant. Those lyrics, lol. That odd but brief period in the 60s before the psychedelia fluff of '67. |

Re: The 60s music thread
^ Good one, I like The Rolling Stones, don't like The Beetles sort of person.
I'm feeling a bit like this today. I haven't a clue what Doug Yule is singing about. [Verse 1: Doug Yule] Candy says "I've come to hate my body And all that it requires in this world" Candy says "I'd like to know completely What others so discreetly talk about" [Chorus: Doug Yule] "I'm going to watch the blue birds fly Over my shoulder I'm going to watch them pass me by Maybe when I'm older What do you think I'd see If I could walk away from me?" [Verse 2: Doug Yule] Candy says "I hate the quiet places That cause the smallest taste of what will be" Candy says "I hate the big decisions That cause endless revisions in my mind" [Chorus: Doug Yule] "I'm going to watch the blue birds fly Over my shoulder I'm going to watch them pass me by Maybe when I'm older What do you think I'd see If I could walk away from me?" [Outro: Doug Yule] Doo, doo-wop Doo, doo, doo-wop Doo, doo, doo-wop Doo, doo-roo, doo-wop Doo, doo, doo-wop Doo |
