One of my proudest achievements at uni was submitting an essay that was less than half the word count and still getting a higher grade than half the class. Concision FTW I guess.

I know at my uni I would have gotten away with 30 words (or 230, if you're working with the 10% under/over rule) but we didn't actually have to write the word count at the bottom.

Cannot be bothered today. Only halfway through the work I need to do and I'm going to stop for a while. I feel like my brain is melting.

Yes, I can't handle being in enclosed spaces with people, luckily it was completely empty the whole time, but even just my brother and mum felt like too many people.

All was good in the end, had a nice time

I wan't Leo to win...but there's a small (apparently twisted) part of me that would be highly amused if he didn't. That would be one hell of a gracious Oscar losing face to pull off all things considered....

It was intentional. They originally filmed it with no dialogue at all for him, and dubbed some in later. * George Miller's preferred release was to be black and white with no sound, I think?

He doesn't need to speak, in the role. Max isn't meant to be the memorable hero of his film. He just shows up, reluctantly assists people on his own path to survival, and buggers off again. He's so mentally damaged that interacting with anyone seems like a monumental effort.
I do think a lot of men aren't used to seeing a male action hero who doesn't want attention, doesn't want to dominate, doesn't want to hold court and mould his world, so Max seem strange to them - but imo he's a way more human, relatable figure. He's a man who hasn't hardened due to all his suffering - he's splintered, and he just wants some peace.

I thought it was an amazing film, I'm so happy something like that was made in my lifetime so I could see it. The sets, the editing, actual thoughtful female roles. No dumb shoehorned romance.

Tom chooses very samey roles and is not so great with accents though, that's a fair critidism of him I've seen.

*so I read on reddit

Thanks for the responses in regards to my crash that happened last night guys. Got a cheeky £600 excess to pay to the insurance company. I'd rather pay 600 quid than be in a prison cell for manslaughter if there were to perhaps be a pedestrian (which there never is) where I hit.

was just thinking Eric Bana could have been a good Max, i wonder if he was approached but was maybe working on something else at the time?
The film would've been a lot less aesthetically delightful with Bana as Max x3

I was reading something Miller said about how he wanted Tom bc he needed someone who can be impressive and charismatic even when silent, he said Mel Gibson had the same energy.
I'll probably rewatch Fury Road tonight lol

How most people just get on and do things in their lives like changing jobs going out with friends and having a good time, gaining experience and memories along the way while I've just been inert doing very little and experiencing virtually nothing, I have no fond memories and very little experiences to draw on, and I can't see a way to change things now I'm just too old and inexperienced to make any connections with anybody now (if I ever met anybody that is).

Ok having a five minute chat with random ones when out and about but I'd feel out of place in a walking group with them.

I'm just a Black Country bum huffing and puffing out on the hill.
