Default Showing love to your mum

Do any of you find it hard to show love to your mun? Do you find you argue with her when really you want to show ger how much you love her.
Its weird but I have been thinking a lot about this recently. Especially since my illness.
My mum does so much for me and always has. She has a way of saying things that make me feel comforted .
I never really got on with my dad. He was quite a cold person.

Yes I had this problem before she died. But that it because I have always been insular. But when she was in her final years I became her primary carer.

I worry about having to care for my mum, she was abusive and neglectful. We do have an ok relationship, but I have to have a lot of boundaries or she just makes me feel bad. She's still horrible to my older brother who's much more "enmeshed" with my parents.
I get on much better with my dad and worry about losing him and my mum ending up needing me, because she's get such an abusive personality I can imagine it only getting worse. She's quite abusive to my dad now he's getting older, though he can still hold his own and often tells he to f off.

My mum has never lovingly touched me, so touching her if she starts to need care will be psychologically difficult I think.

I get on very well with my Mum. I visit a few times a week and also keep in touch throughout the week. Although I think I've mentioned this before. And hopefully one day I will be able to use my umbilical cord like a lasso and win the affection of my future intended.

I had a conversation with mum today saying I get irritable sometimes but its the pain and uncertainty from my illness. I said something which upset her the other day about not knowing how long I might have to live. My mu is 80 and I am 51 and I think she might outlive me. She said somethng about being left on her own and I dont want that for her.

I guess Im just being pessimistic but Im having a lot of issues at the moment

That's really tough for both of you, Angela. Do you have any external support?

That doesn't sound like a lot. Do you have an occupational therapist or anything?

Those are all really scary feelings to experience, Angela

Merry's right about looking for some support with this such as occupational therapy and counselling. It's a lot to live with on your own.

(Sorry for the name typo! Merry's name isn't Kerry!)
