Default What book(s) are you reading at the moment?

I'm not reading any books at the moment, but I do like reading both fiction and non-fiction books.

I'd be interested to hear what books people are reading at the moment.

I have always got a book 'on the go'. On my latest jaunt to the local Library I randomly picked up a book called Kalooki Nights; on the front cover it states 'masterpiece' 'funniest book from this country in years' etc.

I have never read (or attempted to) such self important, rambling rubbish in my life.

I gave up about a quarter of the way through and am now reading Deception Point, you cant fail with a bit of Dan Brown

"The heart is a lonely hunter" by Carson McCullers. I just finished Of Mice and Men and read The Grapes of Wrath shortly before that. I seem to be on an 20th century American thing at the moment.

Lustrum, Robert Harris

Part of a trilogy of the life of Cicero. Fast paced and entertaining. Sort of like The Thick of IT but in ancient Rome!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lustrum_(novel)

On Audiobook:
The Innocence of Father Brown, G K Chesterton
Recently finished:
The Prince, Machiaveli
The Fry Chronicles, Stephen Fry

Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde. A friend was talking about it last year and I happened to see it in the library the other day.

I'm not a great reader, (due to poor concentration/memory) but have been carrying Paul Diannos book around with me. I really must start it! (Only cost me a penny on amazon)

Still on the audio book of Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged, not exactly enjoying her writing or characters, she really was crazy but I'm stupidly stubborn with books, I've come this far, I will finish it.

'The Temporal Void' by Peter F Hamilton - it's part 2 of a trilogy and it's proper epic scale space-opera type stuff

Next up I am finally getting round to reading 'Starship Troopers' by Robert Heinlein; I love the film and have been meaning to read this for ages.

I'm reading 'I Don't Want To Kill You' by Dan Wells which is the third book in a trilogy about a diagnosed sociopath who has to keep his serial killer urges in check and just wants to be good. It's riveting stuff! Best books I've read in a while. They remind me of the tv show Dexter.

By George by Wesley Stace. I had previously read Misfortune by the same author and loved it. Both books are amazing.

I also like Ian Mckewan and have read a lot of his books. But they can be hard going as they are pretty warped and dark.

Bit of randomness but I bought a Gore Vidal book in a charity shop once and it turned out to be a signed copy. Will hang on to that one I think!

I don't have space to buy books really so borrow from the library, give to charity shops or download the audiobook.

I just finished "Seeing" by Jose Saramago it's a story about the chaos that ensued when an entire population decided to cast blank ballots. I really like his writing style so I'm going to find some other stuff he has written

Loads of Mills & Boon because I'm writing my own, mine is about an aunt who bequeaths her Greek villa to her niece on the condition that she marries one of three men of the island.

I read other books as well, mostly for study - Stephen King for clarity, romance novels (classic & modern), erotic literature to inspire the sex scenes etc.

Jurrassic Park-but I'll say I've finished it. Think I'm going to say the film>book because don't go much on Michael Crichton's writing.

I'm reading 'Cousin Bette' by Honoré de Balzac, it's very good, quite funny I like the woman in the painting on the cover too, she reminds me of somebody. It takes me ages to read books so I'll probably have finished it in about six months time.

Strangely a quite hard topic to answer, as I tend to burn through books all in one go or near enough, so by the time I list anything I've generally finished it!

That said, I'm re-reading my terry pratchett diskworld collection again at the moment. On the newer Tiffany aching story-arc, I <3 the feelgles :D
