"There's a misconception that some people have.
It’s a misconception I believe that some people choose to have. Because, under the right circumstances, it’s a comforting misconception to have. Look, we all know that we're not "supposed to" compare ourselves to other people. But, what do we often do? We compare ourselves to other people. When we do this, we invariably see people who are far, far ahead of us. And that can be tough to handle. And it is in those tough moments that we deploy a convenient misconception. And that misconception is this... "Well, it's different for them. Somehow… it’s just different." No. It’s. Not. Success is hard. Success in anything is hard. Yes, some people have talent. Some people have resources. And some people are in the right place at the right time. But, even so, success is hard. It will never stop being hard. And if you choose to pursue it, it will be hard for you too. I think that most of us, deep down, know this to be true. And that's why we tell ourselves, "It's different for them". It’s because we fear the hard work. We fear the effort. And, above all, we fear the disappointment of not reaching our goal. So, you can be afraid. Or, you can work. Really work.
