Default Over 30s London Meet - Sat, 2nd April

This is probably going to sound ageist, but here goes…

I would really like to go to some of the London meets, but the main thing stopping me is the thought that many (or most) of the people would be in their 20s. It’s probably an SA thing, but I always feel more comfortable with people more my own age. Maybe some of you feel the same way?

So, any takers for an over 30s London meet (3pm, Saturday, 2nd April)? We could meet in a pub or go somewhere like Tate Modern.

Anyone interested?

Hello

I would be interested in this meeting, would this be your first time organising one or going to one?

Bye for now

Sounds a kool idea to me!

I’m going to the Joanna Newsom gig at the QEH on April 2, but if the meet starts at 3:00pm then I‘ll definitely come along.

I don’t mind going to a pub if that’s what people prefer, but Tate Modern is also a good place for a meet. Actually, one of my first SA meets was at Tate Modern. It’s a great place to relax and feel comfortable in, and what with all the weird and wonderful exhibits there’s always plenty to talk about – and they’ve got a few cafés there.

Hope the meet goes ahead. (Emote: smile)

Yep, I'd be interested too, FruitTree. I expect I could make the 2nd, although I prefer quiet galleries to pubs (Emote: eekpurple) I've attended a few meets many moons ago, and it was a great way to meet people in the same boat.

Ive been saying for a long time I want to go to a meeting and this would have been right up my street. Unfortunately I have another photofacial treatment on the 31 March and will be swollen and red for a few days. I would definitely be interested in another over 30's meet though, maybe in the summer?

Thanks for the replies guys. (Emote: smileyellow)

I wasn’t sure if anyone would be interested in an over 30s meet, but it’s looking like we already have enough people for a meet. (Emote: smileyellow) I was thinking if only a few people wanted to come along then we could have the meet at Tate Modern, but if more people are interested then maybe a pub meet would be better. Hope that makes sense.

tralaine - maybe you could try advertising an over 30s meet on the http://starrymoonz.proboards21.com/index.cgi site?

Karen - I've been to SA meets before, but never organised one.

Flibberty - I'm hoping there will be more over 30s meets. I read your thread on the trophy forum and wish you good luck with the photofacial treatment. It's a really brave thing you're doing. (Emote: smileyellow)

Hi FruiTree.!

Most excellent idea! Will definitely come along.

I go to most London SA meets and it's true the majority are in their 20s but they're a smashing bunch all the same.

From experience I encourage everyone to try to come along - there's no better medecine than meeting other SAers and giving each other support in the process.

Admittedly, walking into the pub on my very first meet was very SA but one has to fight one's SA and force yourself to overcome that very first meet. From then on, believe me, you'll look forward to every meet. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

So, GO ON everyone!!

I'm considering this one; I'm 33, but don't look it, don't feel it, and don't act it, so I'm a bit concerned that I won't really fit in with all you grown-ups, and that my presence might defeat the object for other people...? (Emote: ohwell)

Yeah, me too.(Emote: rolleyes)
I have to be able to travel on the underground.........then there's the whole agoraphobia problem with me. Maybe if you had another meet later in the year I might be more confident. I did want to start going to a few meets.............soon.

I'd come if I could wear a beard to hide behind.

As a bonus I could then later do some Morris dancing in the car park as well or even impressions of Rolf Harris.

Wow – great response guys! (Emote: smileyellow)

I was expecting only a handful of people would be interested in this meet. Obviously, with so many people wanting to come along this will have to be a pub meet.

I’ve never been to the Doggetts pub, but it sounds better than the George Inn which I never liked before. So, unless anyone’s got a better idea, the meet will be at:

http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.sr...=newsearch.srf

I’ll post more details about the meet in due course.

Looking forward to meeting everyone. (Emote: beerchug)

BTW – I’m planning another meet, probably at Tate Modern, for members of the http://essexsa.proboards43.com/ group. If anyone’s interested in coming along then please email me: mailto:essexsa@hotmail.co.uk">essexsa@hotmail.co.u

Yup I agree with that diaspar as time is ticking on and no one seems to be taking the bull by the horns (Emote: smileyellow)

I'm intending to be there if there is sufficient interest.
