Yeah saw it last night, about 5 people in the showing and two of those came with me.

I love Predator, 2 and Predators. I like most of the comics and what i saw last night was not good.

It felt like if you removed the Predator and put anything else in there it would have been the same film.

Sorry

When i first found out they were doing a new film i was looking forward to it. Then with the edits and that trailer i kind of thought it was going to be bad but still saw it anyway.

yip, Endo,. sadly I can confirm that The Predator 2018 is pretty pants tbh

I thought the trailer looked okay,.. but the actual film kind of failed,

there was so much of it that was scarily bad,... it kind of tries to be tongue-in-check, and also doesn't at times too, so you're left wondering wtf?

I'd give it about 4 / 10.. for being able to watch a few Predators slashing, kicking and punching the shit out of things, and a few rather obvious nods to the first Predator film,

I feel like I need to go and watch the original Arnie film, just to feel the magic again, that the new film has cruelly pissed all over.

I'm so annoyed, as a decent 2018 rendition of a Predator movie would have been awesome

Have you seen The Witch? That's pretty good. There's a new series ... forgotten what it's called, netflix, but it looks half decent..

No, not as yet.

Oh do you mean the haunting of hill house (it's called something like that)? Is it based on the Shirley Jackson novel or just a thing of it's own?

why did you think that? It's funny, it seems to do almost nothing for some viewers.

Mandy - it features a chainsaw fight and Nicolas Cage lighting his cigarette with a decapitated head that's on fire. So yeah 9/10

Because i thought it was a horror - i wasn't frightened, creeped out, i didn't feel any tension. It completely failed on that front. I did laugh a few times, but like i said, i thought it was a horror, i wasn't expecting an ironic, comedic slant.

Watership down. That's a bit of a trip to lay on kids! Good film tho. In it's day like. Plus john hurt always a plus.

Edit: okay I'm a nob. John hurt isn't in it! Haha. Why'd I think he was. It's losing a point for not having john hurt lol

you didn't feel any tension, wow, I found it an uncomfortably tense film! And I didn't find much ironic about it at all either. Did you not even rate Toni Collette's performance, or the soundtrack?

John Hurt is in it. He's the voice of one of the main characters. If your meaning the late 70's film anyway.

Watership Down made me bawl my eyes out as a kid
Good film

^^ Oh dear I don't recommend Watership down then!

It's like a more intelligent, darker version of the animals of farthing wood.

Meh, when i think horror tension, the films that come to mind are The Shining and The Exorcist - this doesn't come close. That said, i'd had a few pints by the time i started watching it, and i was watching it with a friend (i think horror is best alone).

Yeah, Toni Collette's performance was very good.

Is it a bit like Animals of Farting Wood?
kind of like farthing wood ( loved that show btw) meets psycho

Jingle all the way

As a film in general I guess I would give it 4/10, as a silly film for kids at Christmas I think it was pretty ok, maybe 7.5/10, I quite enjoyed it.

Not a fan of Arnie in general and he was his usual self here. I would say David Adkins as the postman saved this film quite a bit, I also enjoyed the creepy feminist style neighbour (Phil Hartman).

Something I did notice, as someone who doesn't watch TV/films or read any books/news/media, is how much violence is in this. It does make me wonder what effect it has on our kids to normalise violence and show it as mostly non-consequential.

Rainmaker - Matt Damon, Danny DeVito, Jon Voigt etc.. quite enjoyed it,. 7/10

was surprised to see a younger Claire Danes (from Homeland) starring in it too, so funny to see her with a different accent and playing such a different part.

I seem to be really drawn to courtroom dramas for some reason,.
