I feel the same way. Every time Gamgee organises a new Birmingham meet I think about it then immediately chicken out. I was tempted by Endo's Stourbridge meet but rather pathetically I'd prefer to avoid that town for a while in case I run into that girl I've been all down about for the last month.

^^I went to see a film with a guy off here once. It was supposed to be a proper meet but nobody else was interested.

^I should go, it's just Stourbridge! Nothing against the place, I just can't go there!

I think it's good if these things are discussed on the forum because we all learn something, but it's up to you if you want to keep it private.
You're right, although I've seen similar posts before, so it applies to those too. The "wise old sage" remark was aimed generally as well.

I still haven't been to a SAUK meet. Maybe some day I'll organise one myself.

With that in mind, why people use others on here as a scapegoat for them failing to, let's not beat around the bush, having the bollocks to approach new people at that current moment in time, I don't know.

You're not some wise old sage for pointing out that people here don't have all the answers, yet that doesn't spare us from subsequent analysis of this site (happens every time). If you don't like the site in its current state, either leave or instigate change. Ordinarily, I would say you're welcome no matter what but if we're dispensing with "hug box orgies", fine; my advice is like it or lump it.
People post their realities, and your post obviously reflects yours. Personally I think when someone talks about bollocks they don't know what they're talking about- but that's just me.

Don't know if your post is a reaction to my complaint about the site some weeks ago- that was at that moment at time, and as far as I'm concerned I'm perfectly correct. And I made a decision to stay or go and I chose to stay and contribute resources that are genuinely helpful. If someone has sa telling them quite flippantly it's simply a matter of bollocks neglecting the whole world of CBT and numerous other therapies I'd say is probably seeing a fraction of a picture.
But if it's true for you, it's true for you and it's good if you're making progress via that.

Don't all forms of therapy share the same goal of instilling more self-confidence in the person? If there's no rational reason for people not to talk to others or do the things that SA prevents them from doing, then it must be something irrational such as fear.

I'll be honest, I'm not the best at taking advice myself sometimes.
My therapist called it a "pity party."

I call it expressing yourself for how you're feeling.

^It's sometimes necessary to let all that stuff out but it's a slippery slope. In the past I've found myself avoiding trying at life in favour of feeling sorry for myself, because there's a strange, sick kind of comfort in accepting misery and it's a little bit addictive.

Feels like I have the forum all to myself at times like this. Not such a great thing for the only place that provides me with socialising.

Well, at least I know that someone is probably reading this, there's always at least a few people reading the forums. Hello, invisible people!

This partially chewed, slowly rotting matter will continue to accumulate, as the zombie devours more victims, until it is forced through the anus, or literally bursts through the stomach or intestinal lining.'

Also if zombies did excrete, the stench would cause survivors to cover their nose, which doesn't happen. Look at the Walking Dead for instance. This is never the case; we have seen bloated zombies however, which suggests that their digestive systems aren't functioning properly, and that their bodies just accumulate food until they become larger.

Ah, you can always rely on good old Max Brooks to come up with a good zombie explanation, thanks

I'm surprised how much water you can hold on your body after getting out of the shower, my sister took the bath mat away to wash but didn't replace it and i didn't realise till i got out of the shower so there was a surprisingly large puddle of water on the floor.

been thinking about things many things. my mom is still unwell I notice it more every week. I'm struggling to be more social and talk to more people I don't know. I need to get past my fear that when they get to know me they'll not think I'm a "freak and a dumb ass" and piss off as fast as they can. I think I've spent so much time alone that being around people ( even ones I know and like ) is so alien to me.
Hope your mom is okay

My family are starting to drive me mad, my dependence on them is driving me mad, my isolation is driving me mad, my inability to do anything other than sit on the internet all day is driving me mad, my inability to only go out the house when its absolutely necessary is driving me mad, my slow, dumb and deteriorating brain is driving me mad, my useless, nothingness life is driving me mad, basically everything is driving me mad right now, god I hope the start of counselling tomorrow is the beginning of some positivity in my life, because I really am losing the will to live right now.

^ Very much not the case, Concept. For one you've an awesome taste in lit, and I'm oft to be found looking up a book you've posted and adding it to my to-read list (if not reading it right away).

^^^ I'm in a really similar position to you, Ollster, and can feel the same at times. Starting counselling's a really positive step though; from now on, the only way is up (baby). Good luck with your first sesh and I hope you feel better on the morrow.

Oh no, I might have to re-open the Earworms thread now

But thanks, Zakster, I hope its positive, I did have some short sessions a few months ago on the NHS, but I didn't get much out of them really, so was referred to the next level up and 'something more extreme' as she described it and I get longer sessions now with the new series of sessions. Though I'm slightly apprehensive as the counsellor I'm seeing is a man, up to now I've only ever seen women for these issues, both at uni and on the NHS, so will have to see how it goes and how comfortable I feel with him.
