Amazingly brave things you've done that blow the pants of non-SA people
In my recent doom and gloom I've lost a lot of perspective on my life, and I'm just trying to think back on some of things I've done in the past when I've really pushed myself. It's good to know that brave person is in there somewhere, even though it doesn't always feel like it.
1. I once went Lindy Hop (swing) dancing on my own and danced with lots of people. 2. I chatted up a cute girl on the underground once and got her number. 3. I lived in Germany for 6 months 4. I had a fight with a bloke twice my size once :-) What about you guys? |

I once got on a flight to Manchester on my own. Brave, huh? Sadly though, coming back on the return flight a weirdo sat next to me and really freaked me out so i probably won't repeat the experience ever again.

^ hehe. Weirdos everywhere! You can't avoid 'em sometimes!
Well done, it's a very brave thing to do if it's difficult for you. Fear is all relative anyway. |

Thanks. This nutcase of a guy started singing loudly along to his iPod, playing air guitar, had his jacket halfway over my knee then kept letting his leg drift over and rub against mine (I'm female). His elbow was over in my space too. Oh, plus he absolutely stank. It was a very uncomfortable flight.

I hate that sort of a situation too. Especially on a plane or train as you feel so trapped. Maybe you should annoy the person sat next to you next time :-)

^did you ever see The Prodigy? Or Altern8 or The Shamen? I used to love these old school bands but never had the courage to go to a rave. I was maybe a bit young though and the scene was dying when I was 18 and started going out more.

I've been the only man on a hen night - twice. And no, I wasn't the stripper.
I reckon most non-SA guys would be terrified by this. |

Done two long distance trails on my own (one across the Brecon Beacons, the other one 160 miles all the way around the North York Moors national park).
Been to the theatre a few times on my own. Met random people around the country to climb with, travelling up to 5 hours to get somewhere in the hope that the person I had been emailing would turn up. |

-in my youth, travelling down to London (I live in the north of England) to do some work for a university project on my own
-running a marathon -actually having driving lessons, let alone passing the actual test. Not massive things at all really, but things I should remember more often, amongst more personal ones |

^I consider running a marathon a very big thing! Well done. I tried training for a half marathon put my knee starting giving me grief and it's never been the same since.
Many other impressive things mentioned too, like paragliding and race horse riding!! Wow! I'm mega impressed :-) |

^ and ^^
It is great fun, trouble with me though is I didn't stick at it. This certainly shed light on my eternal problem though: it's not that I don't try, it's because I quit! |

Re: Amazingly brave things you've done that blow the pants of non-SA people
I've travelled to Germany twice on my own. Lots of people would never travel abroad alone, so I'm quite pleased I've done that. It seems to amaze a lot of people for some reason.
Im often travelling about on my own, exploring places and doing some photography. Lots of people ask me If I get lonely. |

I haven't done many brave things, I may have to come back if I think of something to add!
Taking driving lessons was a big deal for me and then taking my theory and practical tests. |

1. Went to gay sauna (I am straight).
2. Gone dancing almost every weekday for 2 years. Asked countless girls (and guys haha!) for dances. |

Went travelling round Oz in my 20s on my own - was a lot braver in those days, the thought of doing that now gives me palpitations! In fact most of the 'brave' stuff I did was in my 20s its all gone downhill from there. Going out of my front door is a big achievement these days!

Re: Amazingly brave things you've done that blow the pants of non-SA people
Like others above I've travelled quite a lot on my own, also worked abroad. However I don't think these were brave for me, as my real fear would be going to a 6 - 8 person dinner party where I didn't know at least 5 of the other guests. That would take tremendous courage ... I feel tense at the thought of it ...

Re: Amazingly brave things you've done that blow the pants of non-SA people
well most of the things that required a fair of gumption are a matter of course for non SA people, like going to live up North for uni when I'd never lived away from home, getting into work after years of unemployment, starting volunteering after being a recluse.
I suppose the answer would be overcoming the horrific psychological pain of severe depression and anxiety I don't think most non SA people know what that's like, or can really imagine what it's like. I wish I didn't too! |

Re: Amazingly brave things you've done that blow the pants of non-SA people
In my younger days I met various people in person that I'd only chatted to briefly online, often travelling 2-5hrs to do so.
I did karaoke once, I had been drinking, but still... I'd love to try Lindy Hop!! Would also love to fly abroad on my own... Never say never. |
