Anxiety level has jumped up several notches
Had someone buzz at 7pm saying he wanted to read the meter . . I’m on a smart meter , which supposedly automatically sends meter readings . I told him it was too late and I didn’t believe him . He just said “OK†. My anxiety level went up several notches , and hasn’t come down .yet

Re: Anxiety level has jumped up several notches
Hm...that is a tad suspicious. If you have a smart meter, no one needs to come out to read it.

You did the right thing. That would have made me anxious too!

Re: Anxiety level has jumped up several notches
Phoned the police and told them what happened . I was told not much could be done without a physical description , but that I had done the right thing not letting the person in . They've made a note in case anything further happens . It may just be silliness on my part , but I do think if there's someone suspicious trying to get into people's places then that needs to be known .

Re: Anxiety level has jumped up several notches
I always refused getting a smart meter because of the disadvantages of having one, but I've been with Octopus for over two years now and never had anyone come for a meter reading because you just submit them yourself every month instead.
That does sound very suspicious. I've heard several times of people's houses being checked out by fake meter readers. If he was genuine then he could have left one of those cards that says when they're next going to try. |
