Yeah I've improved on a lot of areas but I'm way off in others, I can't seem to grasp some of the basics still. Like I don't even like travelling solo that much but I can't make friends or date so I have no choice if I want to see the world.

And just the awkwardness of groups and couples all around me while I have nothing really to focus on while waiting for food, plus I've heard stories of solo diners being turned away in the evenings which would piss me off. I also worry about the language barrier, which is probably a non issue in most of Europe but it's still something to think about.

Someone I briefly knew 18 years ago has been liking my pics on Facebook. Surprised cos I thought I had set everything to private.
He's a full Bible basher Christian.
Part of me wants to just ignore him. Part of me wants to say hello , I'm too curious for my own good sometimes.
If I remember correctly we stopped contact on a sour note.
After all this time why's he looked me up on Facebook?
My fella said to me it's cos he wants to convert me lol
There's more chance of finding a one ended stick.

Best if I just ignore him

That does put it into perspective. I can imagine it souring your holiday.

For now you could try dining at off peak times when it's quieter, but really the best thing would probably be to start practising this sort of thing at home, around where you live, to become familiar with the whole experience, then you can build upon that and transfer it to the holiday scenario.

I'm with you though, i wouldn't be the slightest bit comfortable, it's a bit deep end. Have you got a restaurant within the hotel? Maybe that would be easier

^^^Yeah I could try that but anytime seems to be difficult. I just hate restaurants in general really unless I'm with people I know well.
That's a good idea to practice at home, hope I find the motivation to do it.
I'm staying in a hostel so it's pretty much a bed and breakfast (although this one barely offers a breakfast), I would stay in a resort with a restaurant but it's too expensive with the single supplement crap they add on (how dare I be a socially inept perma single!).
Honestly I want to go home already, worst time to be having a depression relapse, can't face doing anything.

Slightly worried about my counsellor. She's been ill. First she cancelled an appointment and we had a phone consultation, this was on the 9th of May, then my next appointment on the 24th was cancelled and she said she would contact me the following week, which she hasn't. I'm not fussed about the appointments, more worried about her. It's very out of character. I was gonna txt and ask if she was ok, but it's a bit inappropriate really.

Have you met any cool people from the hostel? Where are you holidaying btw?

Is it the inability to enjoy/do restaurants that's getting you down OR are you generally feeling crap for no real reason?

I was going to go to Crystal Palace festival tomorrow but it looks like none of my friends want to go, so I doubt I'll go on my own. So my weekend plans have fallen through to the centre of the Earth again, where they'll probably get eaten by the dinosaurs of indecision and loneliness.
Go life.

No not much going on here but that's no big deal. I'm in Madrid at the moment, moving onto Barcelona tomorrow. English doesn't appear to be very strong compared to other places I've been to so that makes it a lot harder. I struggle enough in all English places
I think I'm just feeling down generally, I've felt horrible for about 2 weeks straight now which is pretty long for me these days. I think I've hit the stage where I can't stand being a lone wolf anymore but I can't shake off my anti social habits. So frustrated.

Aye, I'm so surprised I'm still on. I had 59mb left when I checked an hour ago. I'm just hoping there has been an error and it stays like that for a month .
Wish I could give you some of my 12gb which I barely use.

Not much going on.. ? Damn, i thought hostels were a hive of all sorts of peoples and happenings. What's the cost of a hostel in Madrid? Now that the world cup has begun, perhaps you could catch a game or two in a bar with some backpackers or something

Have you got any plans for Barcelona?

Why do I find it so difficult to part with things?
I have tons of stuff I could sell to get some money, and also make some room, yet I can't bring myself to actually get rid of the shit

You're right, they have stuff like walking tours and bar crawls but I prefer to do my own walking tours with my own exploring and bar crawls aint my thing. I think hostels come alive more at night when I'd rather be in bed I'm not a night person (or any person?) I'll admit I'm not making the most of the whole hostel experience but it's cheap, about £30 a night in a central location for a private room, £15-£20 for a dorm. Not bad at all imo.

I was thinking of going to see the Spain Portugal game later yeah, will see what happens.

Plans for Barcelona is just to see as much as possible , I don't really make concrete plans when I go anywhere (maybe that's where I'm going wrong?). Maybe do the Nou Camp tour and do a comparison, did the Bernabeu yesterday - was pretty special.

Wondering whether it's worth paying to see a counsellor or not. Resenting the fact I feel like I'd have to hire a counsellor just to have someone to talk to. I wish I had friends. It's horrible and lonely not having anyone to share your thoughts and feelings with

^^^ I know it ain't any consolation, but my situ is still pretty much the same. It's a bit ridiculous.

I'm thinking about how you often don't know when you're doing something for the last time until after it's been done. Even considering specific instances I can't work out whether that's a good or bad thing.

A big part of the problem is that I have nothing outside of the relationship, except for work, I have no friends of my own that I can go out with so I will probably end up going back to how I used to be - basically a hermit.
There is also the dread of his friends and family's reactions - his friends are very protective of him and his parents pretty much treat me like one of their own children, I have sort of gained a family that I never had before and he likes to tell everyone that we will be together for ever so I will very much be crushing his dreams

Thinking about the DVD of Gaspar Noe's Love I saw in a charity shop today. The elderly charity shop shuffler that unwittingly risks a quid on that is either going to be very happy or very angry.
