Re: Best medication for SA?
The only medication I have had is propranolol (slow release - one a day - which I found much better than the usual faster release stuff).
I found it very helpful as I get shaky in social situations and the propranolol stops that. I don't take it all the time as it can interfere with sleep, it's also not so good if you are doing sports as it slows the heart down. It doesn't affect how you feel, but I found that not being so shaky did help with my confidence. It is not addictive, which is a big plus. |

Re: Best medication for SA?
I have Atenolol which is prescribed to me. I was prescribed Propranolol to see how I got on with it, but I have read various comments on line that it can lead to hair loss. Having sad that I did take a Propanolol a few days ago instead of Atenolol and it did help. But the fear of seeing my already thinning locks disappear at even more rapid rate is making me wary of it.

Diazepam but only when really needed, sometimes just knowing that I have it helps and I don't need to take it.

Re: Best medication for SA?
Studies have shown that the best med for SA by a long way is Nardil (phenelzine). I made a thread about this a while back.
It's just that the average doc is highly unlikely to prescribe it. |
