The Nightmare Before Christmas is good. I wish they'd written better songs for it though. But it has charm. Haven't seen it in years. That reminds me, I must buy a DVD of Muppet Christmas Carol. I've been saying this for the last three years. I might go and buy one right now.

The War With Grandpa with Robert De Niro; light, non-challenging, amusing, some nice subtleties. Potential for a sequel. Would watch again.

The Secret Garden (2020) with Colin Firth; better than I expected, more allegorical in places than the 1994 version which I loved. Would not watch again.

Duel 7/10
- is that the 1971 Steven Spielberg film with Dennis Weaver? That one's fantastic, I first saw it at the cinema when it was new and now have my own dvd copy.

Nobody Sleeps In The Woods Tonight.

Quite crap. I'm halfway through, watching because it's too late to start anything else. The camera work is good and i've seen some tits, but .... meh.

His House (2020)

New horror film on Netflix. Pretty, pretty good really. Seemed like it was going to be a little generic during the first half but then it had a decent twist that I didn't see coming, and a couple of very creepy moments.

8.5/10

King of Thieves (2018), with Michael Caine, Tom Courtenay, Charlie Cox etc, on dvd.

A good telling of the tale, some funny moments, a barrage of bad language; several quick flashbacks of several of the actors in films from their youth;

would watch again.

Get Out 9/10

By far the best horror film I've ever seen. Although I haven't seen many horrors. And it is more of a horror/thriller cross. I know I was expecting something unexpected, but it was still very unexpected! The film felt really original, and I was gripped. Really good stuff, although felt quite disturbed by it all!

I think I'll binge on The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rising today. Still haven't seen them and they're available to rent on YouTube.

'Climax' (2018)

7/10

A VERY 'Trippy' , French Drama/Horror, from notorious director Gaspar Noe.

A bunch of 'Stage School' types go to a rehearsal for a wee Musical number. Afterwards they drink from a large bowl of sangria that someone has made. Alas, one of them has spiked it with LSD, and things go rapidly downhill for 'The Kids from Fame' from there, as they begin to freak out in a variety of horrible ways.

The last 30 mins or so are particularly weird and disorienting, owing to the way its been filmed ('intentionally'). The camera work, upside down shots, strobe lighting and pulsing, distorted music effects that plays continuously towards the end of the movie, is designed to simulate 'The Acid Trip from Hell' for the viewer.

Probably something of a Marmite Film Id guess for most folk, but I liked it. (although the opening half is somewhat 'slow')

Not one to watch if youre considering dropping some Acid, in the near future though!!!

I partially retract my Danny Elfman comments. I haven't seen it in years, but I do remember liking some of the songs.

I've always loved Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and have watched it countless times.

However I saw The Life of Brian a few years ago and didn't really enjoy it. But I've seen it again just now for the second time, and found it absolutely hilarious. Perhaps I just wasnt in the right mood the first time around! Such great comedy, and the inspiration it's had on other comedies since then is obviously quite clear. A great song to end on too - obviously meant to be rather ironic, but I do think it's a really meaningful song.

Kooky Monster - agree about The Post, I saw it at the cinema, I can still hear the interminable rattling and fiddling with her glasses or whatever it was, that Meryl Streep's character did.

Watched Going in Style, with Michael Caine, on dvd; amusing; second time I've seen it, would watch again.

Rented a couple of dvds:

You've Got Mail, with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, which I had seen before; watched it twice this week and would watch again sometime.

Sleepless in Seattle, with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, pleasant enough but probably would not watch again.

Yeah,..I've rarely seen him in a bad film,
He tends to be a good bet for appearing in something very watchable intelligent and well written,
I'd also add to that list; Disclosure, The Sentinel and Fatal Attraction.

I'm sure their morning kiss would have been rendered all the more unpalatable after that frank announcement.
