How have I managed to bruise my thumb? It doesn't hurt but it's gone a strange colour which doesn't wash off. I hope it goes back to normal soon.

I'm going to chime in with the poor eyesight brigade

If I hadn't spent several thousand pounds last year on a gentleman shoving a camera up my arse because my doctor liked to wave the cancer word round like it was going out of fashion (but you can't have a scope for months on the NHS ho ho ho)

..I would have probably had my eyes lasered..ignoring anything I might have seen on final destination..5?. I can't read a number plate across the road anymore, luckily my job involves being camped in front of several screens

Gaaah. I don't want to book the appointment. Why does my hair have to grow so quickly?
I haven't had my hair cut since August

Does it actually take longer if your hair is longer, though? Don't they just start cutting further up?

Mine always seems to take around ten minutes, no matter how long I've left it. That may have something to do with over half of it being shaved though... Maybe a buzz is the answer for you too? I go grade 3 back and sides.

I'm wondering whether I should declare that I have a long-term mental health condition on a university application form or not... Some people struggle more day-to-day than I probably do now, but I do still struggle. I am down with 'chronic anxiety and depression' on my medical record, so it's not like I'd be pulling a fast one. And it might be nice knowing that if I did end up having issues there, I'm already tagged and wouldn't need to provide as much explanation as I might otherwise have to (which would probably put me off seeking support in the first place). Hrmmm...

The happiest people of my generation at my age now (late 30s - early 40s) seem to be those who have married the gf/bf they have been with since they were in their early 20s, both have good careers, had two children, the first around age 30.

That's not to say everyone should or can do those things. Obviously that's not possible and it also depends on the person. Also they all got well into their careers prior to 2008. Just to depress most people on here lol.

Sounds like what I've been telling myself for. Well for every single day for quite a while now.

I can't believe I don't have the discipline to sit for 5 minutes ONLY 5 MINUTES A DAY meditating.
Maybe it's because deep down I know it's not going to work anyway.

Yeah, put it on the form. It's the truth. They might offer you some support. What are you applying for? Feels like we haven't spoken in ages!
Haha.

Yeah, I think I will do. I suppose I worry that it might count against me in my application, even though I know that wouldn't be allowed (I hope). I'm going for a psychological research methods masters. I did really want to apply for a big P, but I have literally no time to come up with a research proposal and I've been having a wobble over whether heading in that direction is the right thing to do. Doing this will delay it for a year, but at least I'll have greater confidence I'm making the right choice (hopefully). And I do love me some research methods. SPSS for the win!

We ain't really spoke in ages! My fault probably for not being around 'ere too much. Is the haircut booked?

^ I am ignoring valentine's Day because it's too commercialised and makes people who don't have a partner feel bad. Bah humbug!

^ Me too. It's so over commercialised. I think it's far more important to just treat your partner with love and respect throughout the year.
I once had a boyfriend that would lavish me with cards, flowers, cuddly toys and balloons on Valentines Day but was pretty horrid to me the rest of the time. It's all so fake.

I don't mind it. Yes it's over commercialised like everything else, but it's nice.

I don't think it makes single people feel bad, I think it gives negative/jealous types something to moan about for that day, but they would probably be moaning about something else anyway.

Yes, I think you are right about that.
Every year I feel a tinge of sadness on Fathers Day when I see all the gifts and cards in the shops but I certainly wouldn't begrudge other people who still have their Dad's celebrating the day and nor should anyone begrudge folk who are celebrating today with a partner.

I hope everyone who does like to celebrate Valentines Day has a truly happy one

^ just like when you have goals big or small in life & they just never happen.
e.g. we have been looking at cars since late 2017 when I decided I'd start learning to drive, I got my licence november. Still no closer to having the money for one.

Ok that explains it. Martin Lewis asking his followers for their opinion regarding a commercialised day only giving the option to love or loathe it. I don't think this is representative of the truth.
