Default I opened up to a co-worker today

She is more senior. I have mentioned her previously here. I bared my soul and she was very sympathetic so we have agreed to meet to discuss these things next week with the manager who hired me and... she said I was lovely and made a large contribution at work. Well. I explained my memory issues, reduction in self-esteem over the past two-three weeks and at least she looked concerned and reassured me. I think I'm going to be re-assigned to some pen-pushing rather than meeting and helping visitors. That's certainly the only time I have ever had enough courage to do such a thing.

It was. She asked me how I was in passing and I assumed she didn't really want to know and that it was just like a greeting, so I said something like I was OK and how was she. Then went back to work and got thinking. So 10 minutes later I approached her and said, "You asked me how I was. Well..." And it went from there. It is a large worry being dealt with and I think I achieved something in confiding in someone who has always been kind to me at work.

It's a weight off my shoulders. Was that your experience? She nearly started crying when I was telling her...

Thanks. It was a spur of the moment kind of thing. Like I said, she's always been friendly and seems to be the only person genuinely pleased to see me each morning (or the only one who shows it). There were no visitors about so I took the opportunity.

Thanks to everyone.

I don't regret it... yet. Honesty is probably the best policy.

Hmm... I went to the appointment, but she wasn't in and I'm getting bad vibes from the boss (who was the only one in today). She is quite terse with me. Not unfriendly, but an example is that I always have to greet her and then she usually responds without looking at me. I don't know what I've done exactly. I perhaps accidentally borrowed a door-entry pass from another staff member a few weeks ago and didn't return it. But today again she isn't very enthusiastic about interacting with me in any way.

Not tomorrow. On Friday she is in. This is making me unhappy and unsettled.

I still don't connect with most of the other people at work. Considering this is my dream bottom-rung job, I'm not putting much effort into it and nor can I muster any enthusiasm for it. I get very anxious each morning, although once I get there my anxiety decreases a lot. I dunno. This must be my last hope.
