Aww that was lovely to read, DiamonD

Edit: sorry for the misspelling of your username. I realised all this time I've been reading your username as DiamondD and calling you 'Diamond D' in my head. Then getting Diamond Dogs in my head.

My brother's wedding today, just a small ceremony with a few witnesses, and stupid face masks everywhere. Just before the photographs, I said 'can we please remove our masks for the photographs?', and some nice smiley photographs were taken. Nobody thanked me or acknowledged my move afterwards, but I know I did the right thing, otherwise they would have had awful masked photographs as their memories of their special day.

I had lunch inside a restaurant today and it was great It felt no different than before the pandemic really, everything was the same except the waitress was wearing a mask. Also, I had a mask on as I approached the place because I assumed I would have to wear it until seated, but the old couple going inside in front of me weren't wearing masks, so I took mine off. Then at the door the waitress asked me to put mine on while walking the five metres between the door and the table I booked in advance because I thought it was going to be busy everywhere this week but there were only four other tables occupied. The last time I went to eat inside somewhere was in September and there was a weird atmosphere and I didn't enjoy it. Today felt like everything was back to normal, almost.

First time in a few months I didn’t do a weekly cheat meal with fast food like dominos. Instead made a keto pizza with coconut flour and Parmesan cheese crust. However because I have also wanted to make keto cookies I brought sugar free dark chocolate. I had a cheat day with that instead so for now I think I’m not buying stuff to make keto cookies for a while as I would just eat the tasty ingredients if they are there. I even over eat peanut butter if buy it.

Did first toastmaster icebreaker speech. Was nervous as heck though. Planning a speech doesn't feel like a conversation but I think presenting it properly maybe is like a conversation.

I need to practice how I speak more I think.

A few days ago. A colleague seemed to be giving me the silent treatment or being passive aggressive though he didn’t towards the end of work because he has to ask me to do things for him.

For once, it didn’t make me feel bad. I think it may depends on the person doing it but I feel he has taken offence to the fact that I say I don’t eat certain foods, he is a chef. He also asked me to watch Euro 2021 which I didn’t as I was busy. Tbh, I can find the time now but then I’m not really into football so see no need.

I think I didn’t feel bad because I don’t feel like a bad person and even things that are probably awkward that I do I realise has reasons now more than before. Also most people don’t know you so why take their judgements to heart as it’s most likely partially false. I think I still care what others think of me but less.

^^ well done on the speech. I couldn't do something like that, but I don't think I have anything to talk about anyhow.
I have done presentations at work but only to people that I know quite well.

You could practice then do it. If you post here you probably have more than you think to speak about.

Not today, but the other day I was kept awake by a party. At around 2am I got up to check where the noise was coming from. It was a party about ten houses down the road. There were loads of people and didn't dare complain, as I was worried it might be the typical football crowd (there was a lot of "It's coming home"). I went back to bed and tried to listen to some music, but I kept hearing the noise.

At 3am I had enough. I got up, walked straight into the party and got them to turn down the music. Luckily they were students and not thugs. They were very apologetic.

Well done you! That is not at all an easy thing to do.

I got so annoyed with a restaurant alarm going off all night a few weeks ago, feeling utterly powerless to do anything about it, I left a bad review on their Google maps page. I'm so brave.

Today I ate some ants! They all emerge from their nests on hot and humid summer days, and winged black ants fly off to find mates. I thought, if the world is going to hell in a handbasket I need to face some fears and practice survival skills, so I tried some ants Mmmmm.

^ You have to tell us more... Things like:

How many ants did you eat?
Did you eat them alive?
Did you chew them?
Did you use a spoon?
How did they taste?
Do you have a recipe to share?
Do you eat any other creepy crawlies?
Is eating ants going to help you survive?

I got many more questions about this, but these are the most important ones!

^Sorry Dustyfied, I didn't see your questions before.

I am afraid I was a bit of a coward and I only ate 3. They didn't taste of anything as I swallowed them whole as I wasn't prepared to bite into them to chew. But yes, they were alive. Ants alone wouldn't be sufficient to survive, but they contain high amounts of protein, so are definitely a source of nutrition.

Good to see you back, Spud!

I've got a welcome back gift for you:

Although truth be told, I planned on doing a whole bit on this picture frame a bit ago. But then I thought it might have been a bit too much. So that idea got shelved. But anyway, I still have this photo frame. So I thought it was a shame to waste it. Anyway, welcome back!

Also, I hope you don't mind, but I planned on dedicating another Barry White song a bit ago as well. But that idea also got shelved. So I know it's a lot to ask. Especially as you've just got back. But I promise this will definitely be the very last dedication song I make:

I would now like to dedicate this song to our good friend, Spud. Welcome back!

Disclaimer:
A lot of sugar was consumed during this post. I know I've said this before, but without question, I think I've definitely got a handle on it this time!

Second Disclaimer:
This post is a bit too much. So no response is needed of course

Counterpoint - weren't they a little bit too small to exhibit any flavour? I've had chocolate covered giant ants before and they weren't too bad! I think I had a chocolate cricket too. I'd definitely prefer a pack of chocolate covered dates or Brazil nuts to be honest though.

Nice one, spud. Gotta love a passport/driving license photo. 50p to see it, pls.
Also lovely to see you posting :]

Cheers, Chess and biscuits

I don't think i'm quite out of the clear regarding a fine so i won't properly rest until i've got it posted back and there's a few weeks past, but it's a little hefty load off which has been mounting and nagging away in some corner of my mind.

Told chef that I was busy when he asked me to do a small task he could do his self. It’s a step in being more assertive.

A friend went to London and bought some for me and my sister to try. They used to sell them in little pots. They were good! I wouldn't eat them now though because I love ants, especially leaf cutter ants.

A couple of weeks ago I taught a cooking class in someone's house It was just for three people - the one who asked me to do it, who'd I'd met a few times, and her two of her friends. At the time it felt like it was awful, and I found it difficult knowing how to lead it while also trying to do things competently in front of them, trying to answer endless questions, trying to make sure they all felt like they were doing things equally, trying to think of how to make it both enjoyable and informative to them and so that they would feel like it was worth their money, but also trying not make a fool of myself while juggling all those things.

I was asked a few days after it if I'd do another one for them plus two more people, and I said I'd think about it since I wasn't sure that I wanted to go through all that again, but earlier today I agreed and we set a date for it in September. It's taken a while to convince myself that they probably did have a good time and weren't just saying that so that I wouldn't feel bad. I think doing it again will probably help with self-confidence, or at least give me the chance to work on not viewing things so negatively when presented with contradicting evidence (unless it does go very badly next time).

Go you ^

People might say something nice to be polite. But they wouldnt ask you to do it again and bring even more people they know if they didnt enjoy it or felt genuinely positive about it.

I haaaaaate when people do that on TV!

We did two things - tacos (prawns, salsa macha, pico de gallo, cabbage, radish and lime cream) and tostadas (chicken tinga, refried beans, chipotle/tomato salsa, pickled red onions, avocado, feta and coriander):
