Default Are you Voting or will your SA put you off

I realise that for some people on here they would find visiting a polling station difficult or even impossible. There is the option of postal voting but i understand it can be complex.

Just wondered whether having SA would put people off voting or maybe you just feel too alienated from the whole process. Any thoughts?

It will most certainly put me off but I am determined this time. It is too late to go postal is that right ?
I would rather go that route but left it a bit late

Already done for both local and general - since I live with my parents, who are housebound, we all voted by post.

I've done it by post too, not much different to doing it in person except you have more time to do it instead of panicking to get out quickly.

I've recently moved to a new area, so I'm extra nervous about going this time, but I definitely want to vote. I should be able to manage it, fingers crossed!

I've only voted about three times but I've never had any issues with it apart from mistaking some party activists at the door for the people running the election and giving them my details and that put me on the Tory and Labour mailing lists.

I'll defo be voting, not sure where the polling station is which is what I'm most nervous about. But once I'm there I'll be fine.

I'm definitely voting. There's no way of shifting the Tory scum from their seat here, but at least I can hope to join others in making a statement.

I've only ever voted once before but I forgot to fold the voting slip thing before I put it in the box and the woman sort of moaned at me and it's put me off ever since. I'm definitely going this time though because I'm making damn sure I have my vote against the Tory trash.

It's a pointless waste of time, but I'll vote anyway. The worst bit is going into the booth, it feels kind of sordid.

My local council sent me a form to fill out with my name address and I sent it back with the note of the same as on the envelope. I don't think that I am registered, and that matters not because I wouldn't waste my shoe leather to walk to the post box or polling station.

People fought and died for our right to vote. Yes, yes but they fought and died for the right to vote for a competant government which represented their interests. I wouldn't piss on any of these twats if they were on fire so I'm not going to bother voting for them.

Yes, I will try my best to go and vote. I also want to make sure one more vote goes against the Tories (although in my area it's unlikely to make any difference to them getting in again)

I am not sure if seeing the process in advance may be worse for others, if so a spoiler perhaps but could somebody describe the process ?

For me I am far more likely to make it if I feel I am well prepared, and despite being determined there are so many unknowns. Last time I voted was over 10 years ago and I was with somebody. I dont really remember much about that period at all. It was in a school and I was worried about not following the signs that lead to the hall it was in.

There is a description on the council website but it really doesn't cover details that I would worry about. What exactly do I do, who are the people there (the helpers), what might they ask me, what do I need?

Don't know, depends on how I'm feeling on the day. I'd have to go early I'd imagine from an anxiety point of view. :/

Thanks rufus, sorry for all the questions, I really don't want to fail on this. So it is reasonably informal. I seem to remember it had quite a jumble sale feel last time, which is good for me.

The people who ask my name (I have no card but am registered) are just volunteers right? I am trying to picture it like dinner ladies or a fate raffle, otherwise my silly brain will start putting a uniform on them and possibly even sidearms.

I can write my name and address down to take with me just in case I stall. So the worst case is wandering off in the wrong direction.

Are people drip fed in, will they be waiting for me to finish before sending the next one in ? Or is there a queue for the booths, after the getting the card. I think my biggest worry is getting the card, wandering in and failing to find an obvious booth, while being watched by the person who let me in to see when to send the next bozo in.

^ Not meaning to worry you, but if you are registered you should have got your voting card thing in the post by now. Are you sure you are registered?

On the question of what happens I usually just take the card with me and hand it to the person at the desk, so I don't even have to say anything. The only word I utter is thank you when they give me the voting slip lol. The people are usually retired type people, volunteers I think.
I usually go at a quiet time, like mid afternoon so I've never had to wait in a queue, but it might depend on where you live.

Pretty sure I am registered, I got a letter checking about my name and who lived here, stating I didnt need to do anything if nothing has changed. And that the card and instructions/location will follow.

My post is pretty poor I regularly don't get my post
I will double check if I can. I need to find out where to go anyway.

Ah that sounds ok then if you've had that letter. They changed the way people register for voting this time and it seems to have made things a bit confusing, I got at least three letters checking who I am and if I'd registered when I already had lol.

Good luck, it feels like an achievement when you've been and voted
