Whether I should bite the bullet and create a profile on POF, there appear to be a few decent people on there, or am I just opening myself up to more despair?

^ by the typos I can only assume you are currently being cocooned, be brave flump. Don't give them the satisfaction of screaming...

Why be an Eskimo? I'm socially ******** and hate the heat, plus you can drink drive and no one gives a shit. Win win.

Possibly popping in to where i used to work, they have been in touch recently and sounds like there may be some work available.
Haven't set foot in the place for two years and i'm a very different person now to the one they remember, don't want to fall out with them, but really don't know if i could handle going back there.

I do miss the place a lot at times, especially working with other people but they have a guy there now who is like a walking mouth, he never shuts up, is always belittling things and people - i guess he'd love nothing more than to have a poof to lay in to as well.

I can now see myself procrastinating over this like it's a life or death decision

^Sounds like a difficult decision. Seeing as they have been in touch with you and you say you miss it a lot at times, might it be a good idea to pop in as soon as possible so you have little time to think about it?

^Yeah, i should really find an excuse to just 'pop in' so i can have a nose around, would give me an idea of what i might be letting myself in for.
The thing i'm most worried about is the barrage of questions i'm bound to get - What have you been up to? Do you have a missus yet!? etc. (the answers will not be very exciting)

^Yeah those questions are annoying and definitely one of the main things that would stop me from going. All I can suggest is having a couple of pre-prepared answers and hopefully people will be fairly busy so won't have much time for questions?

Having an early mid life crisis, assuming that I'm not already half way through

Keep getting the urge to just **** off and disappear, never bloody do it though
There must be more to life than this.

I had one of them ^^

Mid Life Crisis I mean

I did something I'd never considered before..ever, I got myself a passport and went to mexico for 2 weeks, never had I been abroad..or been on a plane or anything, and i went straight in to a 12hr flight..2 weeks out the country

I really wasn't happy about being 30...

The problem is It didn't really fix anything I still don't like being 30, I still feel like crap and I'm looking for something else "big" to do...but I'm not quite at wig and a sports car stage just yet..

^ Now the younger woman idea I can get behind! must find me one of them :p

Bloody hell, you went to Mexico! Shit I've barely left Somerset in the last five years and before that never went particularly far.
Went to Australia as a kid, would like to go back there but that really is impossible now.
I keep thinking about this Brighton trip but never get beyond thinking. I don't feel I have the knowledge to be able to do it, I've never booked somewhere to stay before, wouldn't know what sort of place to go to, you get the picture.
And then comes the biggest stumbling block - having to do it alone, I know if I go alone I would only hide myself away and not go out so really there would be no point in going.

It really is the proverbial vicious circle, I avoid going out because I have no one to go with but I never meet anyone because I don't go out

I can strip an engine to a thousand pieces and rebuild it but can't even sort a simple week away - what a wanker.

You couldn't strip an engine before you stripped your first engine.

Thanks Omar
Believe me the first engine felt considerably less daunting!
And the results in the event of a balls up would have been much more benign.

I just need to fecking do it

Before Mexico I'd pretty much never left my town in 30 years lol, apart from the odd trip with work

I didn't go on my own, I was persuaded by someone I don't really speak to anymore which is a bit of a shame...thats another story entirely but..

It really wasnt so bad you know..I tried to hide from people on the beach trying to sell me sunglasses and cigars but apart from that it was great..I'd honestly love to go back but I've got no one atm...

I know what you mean though, I'm not sure how far i'd be prepared to go on my own...I feel I need someone with me to bring me out my shell, on my own Its bloody hopeless

Loads of folks holiday alone, it can't be that bad but I would hate to end up having a week of anxious hell and then be too afraid to go away again, the purpose of the exercise is to build confidence. And get away from this bloody place!

If I don't hurry up it'll be Christmas.

My family have booked a number of holidays online, all with no direct contact with human beings. As flumpsy says, you just arrive, collect the keys from the safe thingy and that's it

I can't do much on my own

I mean..I guess I "can" but I choose not to for various reasons. The people who can holiday and travel and such on their own, hats off to ye, I don't have it in me.

I'm defo one of them who needs a push by someone, besides if I went on my own it would be no different to being stuck in my room on my own..stuck with this miserable twat

But then I hate feeling so..dependent on others which really isnt good for someone whos chronically single with barely any friends..it just means I don't do a thing
