Default Notice of Changes to Posting Guidelines

As with most big discussion boards, SAUK is a dynamic environment - things are always changing and constantly evolving. As a result, from time to time, it will become necessary for us to make amendments to the existing Posting Guidelines, and in the spirit of openness and transparency, we want to keep you fully informed of any changes that are made. So, from here on in, whenever we make an amendment or carry out an addition to the Posting Guidelines, we'll post it up here so that everyone can be made fully aware of it.

Please be further advised that the Posting Guidelines also extend to the Blog and Social Group sections.

Bumping old threads:

Quote:
To avoid confusion, please start a fresh thread instead of bumping old ones that have been inactive for more than 18 months. Moderators reserve the right to split/close threads and/or delete individual posts if this is not adhered to.

Signature sizes:

Quote:
Please keep any images in sigs at approximately 25kb or less, and resize them to approximately 200x200px at the absolute most.
This was previously stated in a sticky thread in The Garage, which I've now removed.

Name changes:

Quote:
Only one change of username per user will be permitted in a 6-month period, unless there are exceptional circumstances (in that instance please PM a Mod or Admin). In real terms, that means that if you change your username, you will not be allowed to change it again until six months have elapsed.
As above, this was also previously noted in a sticky thread in The Garage.

'My SA is worse than your SA' kind of posts:

Quote:
Please do not use the board to compete with other users as to who suffers more than whom, or to question the severity or entire existence of other members' SA. The belittlement of others' suffering will not be tolerated, and posts/threads of that nature will be edited and/or removed at the Moderators' discretion.

Account deletions:

Quote:
Account deletions will only be carried out under exceptional circumstances. In real terms, this means that accounts will not be deleted without good reason to do so. If you have a valid reason for removing your account, please PM one of the Moderating Team.
Now added to the FAQ, also formerly a sticky in The Garage.

We've had a policy in place for some time now, which prohibits the discussion of bans from the chatroom in the public areas of this discussion board. However, the Posting Guidelines did not specifically refer to that policy in any way, so we've now amended part of the guidelines in order to provide some clarity. A record of the amendments we've made are as follows:

Former:

Quote:
Discussion of moderation actions in the public forums is not permitted. Moderation actions include warnings, suspensions and the editing or deletion of posts. If a member has a concern about a moderation action, he or she is invited to address it with the Admin team via Private Message or email, where the team will then review the action internally, before issuing a response to the complainant in due course.

The following policy regarding multiple accounts has been amended to provide clarity on the issue:

Former:

Quote:
Users are allowed to create multiple accounts at SAUK, provided that they are used appropriately. Misuse of dual accounts will be dealt with accordingly, which may result in a suitable ban and/or being prevented from using any further dual accounts in future.
Current:
