Re: What are you looking forward to?
Thanks, both!
^^ there's a different atmosphere at different gigs/concerts. It all depends on how the band works the crowd. Sometimes the crowd is silent and enjoying the music. Sometimes they're dancing, moshing... it depends on the genre of music too. A lot of gigs have different areas, so you can be in the crowd dancing or you can be in a seated area. I only go to smallish venues. I've been to an arena once and it was just too big to really enjoy it - might as well just watch it at home on the telly! I've been to a gig on a boat before. That was a lot of fun, everyone was dancing. There's always been a great atmosphere at all of the gigs that I've been too :D Last night was fairly quiet because it was the royal philharmonic orchestra playing along to a screening of The Fellowship of the Ring. |

Re: What are you looking forward to?
^ That sounds lovely, maybe in the future I could go to one the only thing is I can barely walk in public let alone dance in public I’d probably be put on you’ve been framed with dodgy dance moves.

Re: What are you looking forward to?
^ I love going to gigs. Try going to a seated gig to start with then there's no pressure to dance. You can do a little chair dancing

Re: What are you looking forward to?
I'm looking forward to finally getting my own place. I'm in my early 40s and apart from a brief spell flat-sharing in my late 20s, I've lived at home my whole life. It didn't actually bother me for the longest time, until my mid 30s when something clicked in my mind and my cosy living arrangement suddenly felt a bit restrictive. Nothing anything my family did wrong or anything like that, I just started to realise that I couldn't stay like this forever...I mean I could stay like this forever, but I don't think it would be good for me in the long run.
So, at the tender age of 35 I began properly saving for a deposit. Up till that point I had hardly any savings because I'd blow my wages on tat I'd buy from Amazon to give me a brief dopamine high. Oh, a boxset of the 80s sitcom Watching that I'll never get round to watching? I'll have that! Doesn't sound much but it all adds up. So I curbed the random spending, set up an ISA, and began putting away a bit each month. There was the odd occasion I'd have to dip into my savings for an unexpected bill, but generally I left it alone. Managed to somehow have a 3 year relationship in the middle of it, despite still living at home, which kind of took a hit on my ability to save, but I still kept doing it. Got dumped, still kept saving. Hit quite a low point post-relationship where I wanted to pack in the job, dreams, hopes, aspirations, and instead just live at home alone, consuming media and not speaking to anyone till I died.....I still kept saving. Reason I'm posting this here is today I finally met my deposit goal that I made for myself all those years ago, and I feel kind of proud of myself. I've already got my mortgage in principle and now I just need to find somewhere. Finally feel it's an actual thing I can do, rather than just a pipe dream. I know I could've put this in the Living At Home Thread, but I feel it might be a bit boastful and like I'm waving my willy in people's faces, which I don't want to do. So I'll do it here But seriously, this is the one thing that is keeping me going just now, so I kind of wanted to crow about it! |

Thanks Biscuits! And hey, Springwatch is exciting too! I love to have it on in the background as I potter about my room
Thanks too, The*Crafty*Elf! Actually I feel bad referring to Watching as tat - although I've never got round to watching it yet, I do have fond memories of my Mum watching it in the late 80s, which is partly the reason I bought it I will actually give it a proper shot |

Four days off.
Just hope I can avoid the forelock-tugging celebrations of Royalist owner-worship that are sweeping the country. |

I have a weird affection for old British comedies. Most of them aren't all that funny (certainly not compared to something like Alan Partridge or The Office or Peep Show), but I find them weirdly comforting – Steptoe and Son, Hancock's Half Hour, The Good Life...they're like old friends. What are your favourite's crafty elf? |

Re: What are you looking forward to?
I look forward to nobody pretending to give a flying fig about the queen again.
It's quite ridiculous when every business has Jubilee-related signs up and you know 99% of them are just trying to milk it for money. Even though it puts people like me off seeing this blatant marketing barrel-scraping. At least we can have some quiet for a while after until one of the royals farts, kicks the bucket or squeezes out another backup monarch. |

How about the Carry Ons? Carry On Up the Kyber is surprisingly funny. There is a scene in which private widdle (the brilliant Charles Hawtrey) hides a hot water bottle up his kilt and his sergeant discovers it. Cracks me up every time. |

Re: What are you looking forward to?
I’m looking forward to hopefully putting up my cold frame and starting some seeds off, the only problem is all I do lately is sit on the floor in my bedroom, which is an absolute tip you can just about get to the bed my rowers still in the box and nothing seems to get done.

The peak of the Perseid Meteor shower on 12th August.
It coincides with a super moon (the last super moon of the year). Saturn will also be more visible. what a treat! |

Re: What are you looking forward to?
Well, I saw a few meteors but the super moon made it tricky to see any more. Hopefully next year the sky is just as clear and the moon isn't so super. I've been ever so tired from a few nights of staying up late to do some star gazing.
