'Sup
Hi guys, I'm Jake. I'm a full-time carer for my elderly mother, which means my own life has been put on hold. I'm not sure how I feel about that to be honest. On the one hand I'd quite like a social life, on the other I could happily retire away from the whole human species!
I'll probably just lurk for a while to get the feel of this place before I start posting, if that's OK. Once my confidence is up I'll hopefully get stuck in! |

Re: 'Sup
Thanks guys and gals. I will get involved, I promise! I've not been too active today as days tend to be quite busy.
And thanks Rob, it's nice to know I'm not alone on here. |

Re: 'Sup
I also work with the elderly so know too how physically and emotionally demanding it is!

Re: 'Sup
It can be incredibly demanding, yes. A big problem for my Mum is she can't do a lot of the things she used to, like just going out for a while. So most of the time it's a case of trying to keep her occupied and happy, and not really thinking about my own problems. I dunno, it seems selfish to worry about myself. But the flipside is, if I don't try to sort myself out I can't be an effective carer. Life, eh?
Right, time to venture outside this thread, methinks! |
