I just talk the way almost everyone does where I live...I must admit I do sometimes try to talk more proper if I'm talking to a posh person lol

cool

I'll be honest though, some of the different accents in Yorkshire do my head in, I can't stand the chav accent...not that I'm looking down on them because of the way they speak but it is put-on, it is exagerated, false. I do use slang, mispronounce some words sometimes, I don't do that as much recently though, I think thats what unique about Yorkshire accent all the dialect. I say these but not all time, thats if anyones interested lol (more like I'm writing this to amuse myself)

-dunt - don't
-shunt - shouldn't
-owt - anything
-nowt - nothing
I used to say **** all the time as in couldn't actually I still do
- ayup lol
- used to say rate (right) or alrate never use that one no more
call my mother mam quite a lot
snap - food - but I never said this as a child I just say it sometimes cos it sounds commical 'snap box'
sometimes mispronouce say so it sounds like 'se'
used to say 'nar' all the time instead of now, never use that anymore either

Mostly I put on a really bad Yorkshire accent if I'm messing around like I'll say 'get that snap darn ya neck' 'whats tha doin?' 'you alrate ol' cock?' but I just do that as a joke really, I've never talked like that, its more the older generations.

hmm.... I drop the 'g' off the end of a lot of words I suppose

Oh I say proper a lot instead of really, habit is that.

I alternate a lot between using slag and talking more proper, like I noticed in the video I said window properly the first time then the second time I misprounced it.

Sorry, I'm interested in accents lol

Anyone else wanna share local dialect?

I like Scottish for can'nae and that lol

what are people on about when they say they don't have an accent?

I thought that every county has its own distinct accent?

Is it another way of saying you speak rather posh?

lol

hmm...

But there's different posh accents, like you know, let me think...there's the one which I associate with public schools...and then there's...like you know...ohh I can't think...the proper English one but it doesn't sound as posh. Ooohh I'm not making sense. I can't think of people famous...I never watch the queen speak...right if you've seen Kes, there's the nice young male teacher with dark hair...he talks proper but he doesn't sound to me very posh...but say...you've heard the kids in the Mary Poppins film...you know that sounds really posh.

Does that make any sense at all?

do you speak it brian?

I've got an Essex/london accent, but, I stress, I DON'T (or at least I like to think I don't) sound overly common like your average chav.

I wouldn't say I was posh, but I don't have much of an accent. I live in norfolk, but don't really sound it most of the time, although sometimes a bit slips out. My mum came from st Albans which is sort of north of london, herfordshire I think? ...and my dad was from manchester, so neither of them had a norfolk accent, so I never really picked it up.

Okay cheers for responding

My mother is from Dublin, she's still got very strong Dublin accent but she sometimes uses Yorkshire slag lol I don't particularly notice her accent though, but apparently everyone else does. You get them people who ask her 'Are you Scottish?' I'm not really sure how people can make the mistake Southern and Northern Ireland completely different and Scotland is way different.

I don't particularly have an issue with my voice.

Is that why people won't post a video? except one person. Or is that it they not a bit weird like me and do recordings. I did a cribs one the other year which went quite successful.

If I was irish I think I'd get pretty pissed off with people trying to imitate my accent, or getting where I come from wrong... there are as you say, a lot of variations in the irish accent, but people always tend just copy the cork accent...

Patrick kielty does bit in his stand up about that, where a guy asks him where he's from and he says "belfast" and the guy says back to him a stereotypical corky accent "ah, top o' the mornin to ye", so patrick say back to him "so where are you from?" the guy says "london" so paddy says back to him "ah, wai aye man!......." ".... yeah, ours is a big country too you know"

lol yeah clever joke

Yeah my friends used to mimic the accent...well not mimic cos they did it completely wrong...and it just sounded like they were taking the piss basically

ohh god there was this ****ing idiot man on the train, he was drunk, and he sat near us, you know when there's seats opposite you, well before he came and sat there he was calling his asian guy a 'paki' then he comes near us and when he heard accent 'paddy' kept calling her then mimicing the accent
