Re: What didn't you know until recently?
That (according to the email format rules where I work) it's no longer the done thing to type double spaces between your sentences. I guess I should have noticed that on the phone it automatically goes to one space, and can't really think of a convincing argument for double spaces, but I just do it without thinking on a physical keyboard. This must be how you know you're getting old, when they start changing the rules without telling you. Feels like a turning point. Few more years and I'll be writing to the papers fuming that the weather forecast isn't in Fahrenheit because millenials.
Also, that the guy playing Stalin in The Death of Stalin wasn't actually Martin Freeman like I thought, and my facial recognition skills are terrible. |

Re: What didn't you know until recently?
This might be a common one, but the first time I ever saw a bidet abroad on holiday I thought ''ooh, what a nice idea - a place to wash your feet when you come back from the beach''.
Nobody told me any different and I didn't know so I just used them as a cosy, easy place to hand-wash my tights and knickers. I thought my husband was taking the total piss when he said ''you do know those are for washing your bum?''. |

ASDA got it's name from the Asquith family , who owned a supermarket, and the Associated Diaries company who merged with them.

That there's a concrete, retail-based manifestation (maybe reification?) of one of the most deplorable and actively repressed aspects of my unconscious that bears my name in its correct spelling:

Re: What didn't you know until recently?
I didn't know until last night that spiders could survive submerged in a glass of red wine and still live. That was one really drunk spider I released into the garden last night.

^ I'm not into conspiracy theories and anything to do with aliens I'd be very sceptical of. But with this there does seem to be some evidence that could make sense.

I really want to test this.
When a person cries and the first drop comes from the right eye, it's happiness. Left eye, pain. Both, frustration. |

Re: What didn't you know until recently?
Apparently I'm super-deficient in vitamin B12. The ideal is somewhere between 250 and 550 pmol/l and my test came back at 127. The at home blood test people have recommended I see my doctor about it.
Interestingly, the symptoms of B12 deficiency are all things I complain about regularly: dizziness, tiredness, mouth ulcers... It'll be a bit good if addressing it gets rid of some of that. |

^ Stop going through my bins, biscuits!
I know. It's an issue for veggies sometimes, innit? I don't eat beef, though, and apparently that's a very high source of it. My mum's also had anaemia a few times (though when pregnant), so there may be some underlying hereditary thing going on - he says with his vast medical knowledge. ^^ Thriva. I think it's 50% off at the mo, but if not, I can give you one of my recommend a friend codes if you want to do it. |

Re: What didn't you know until recently?
An ABBA song can sound worse. It just needs the remains of Cher's voice after it's been chewed up, spat out and chewed up again by a vocoder.

^ It's not as a bad as that, thank god. I just heard some 'song' from it on the radio (presumably Radio 2). I listened to it for about minute, just to be sure that it really was a shit as it sounded on first hearing. It was.

When I'm feeling utterly depressed with life I watch the first Mamma Mia so that I can laugh hysterically at Pierce Brosnan's singing Works every time. |
