Default Film recommendations?

Could anyone recommend a good film that would be suitable for a male and female to watch without any arguments.

Gremlins, Little Miss Sunshine, The Artist, or if you don't mind subtitles, Amelie.

^^ I was expecting more from Amelie, but I found it very sickly sweet.

OP, it probably depends on the male and female concerned. Are you into horrors or comedies or dramas? If you're looking for something romantic with a kinky edge, you could try Secretary. It's funny, sexy and has great performances.

If you're looking for a horror, Candyman is my favourite.

I suppose you could go for a 'classic' like The Shawshank Redemption, but it goes on for ages and hasn't everyone seen it by now?

I guess it depends on what type of films you are both interested in so I'll like some genre ones I thought are pretty good.

Comedy: The Campaign

Thriller: Breakdown

Crime/Biography/Comedy: Kill the Irishman

Sci-fi/thriller: The Prestige
