Default What do you think of children?

Not in a sexual way obviously but their innocence...energy and potential!
I used to hate kids but now I get emotional when I hear them playing and think about when I was a kid...terrible childhood!
Now I wish I could go back!

I was so so so worried seeing the thread title.

Kids, I'm glad I don't have any. But I got a niece and nephew which stops me hating kids completely. Not a fan of kids screaming in the supermarket. Secondary school kids I tend to hate because of the memory of them when I was a kid. But there are well-mannered ones.

I like kids, when they're not being little sh*ts. I also had a terrible childhood but in some ways wish I could be a kid again.

Steady on now.

I love my little nephew, he's four and just adorable. He does cause my sister a lot of problems though, he's on the autism spectrum and he can have tantrums or just go really manic and naughty at times. He's not old enough to understand why or explain what's bothering him so he just kind of gets upset about anything. Especially when tired. He never thinks "oh I'm tired, better take a nap" he just gets agitated.
He is great though. Even when he's getting angry it's just cute sometimes.

I like hearing kids making a lot of noise and running about the place. And even though it makes me uncomfortable being on a bus with teenagers when they're giggling and effing and jeffing, I try to remember how boring a day at school is and how much a relief it is to be able to let off steam (as long as they're not being nasty to anyone, like)

I can't really deal with kids personally though. I don't know how to be the grown up, and I just freeze up around my nieces and nephews.

Children are great particularly when they are between the ages of 1 to 5 ish. When children reach 10 the cuteness and innocence has well and truly gone but they can still be quite nice individually, less so when part of a group!

Just today I was waiting at a bus stop and a lady was holding her toddler. The little girl kept peeking over her shoulder and waving. So cute. But yesterday, I was on a long bus trip and it was boiling hot and someone's baby whined and cried most of the way. It was really annoying, but of course it wasn't the poor baby's fault that her silly parents had decided to take her on a trip that was totally unsuitable.

Generally, I can talk more easily to little kids than adults, maybe it's because I was/am a mum and have had a bit of practise? Maybe it's because they are more accepting and less judgmental?

Sometimes I hear people saying that they can't stand kids which I find quite strange considering that they were children themselves once.

I like little ones. I worked as a playworker for 0 - 5 year olds, though most of them were 3 and 4.

I love that age group, they are innocent and also full of wonder and curiosity and a sometimes hilarious honesty. The great thing with that job role was if they were having a tantrum the parents were present and they got to deal with it leaving me with mostly the good bits.

I'm alright at a push up to 8 years old. And I've managed alright up to 13 with one of my friends kids though that is changing. But yeah after 8 I don't like them so much!

Children have that innocence that adults sometimes lack. Im not sure at what point I began disliking children but I regret avoiding them like the plague now!

I am not around kids much so feel like I don't know how to act around them.

From my former workplace though I felt like kids are less damaged by the world. They even seem to have a more fluid posture when walking compared to adults or late teens.

I feel like sometimes my neediness is the same as a some toddlers seemed to display.

I feel like kids also have a lot of potential that is actually clearer to see maybe because it's easier to not feel threatened by kids.

I'm not a fan of children.

What do children actually do, or contribute to society? When has a child ever helped you change a flat tyre, given you helpful directions or even held a door open for you? They also add nothing to the nation's tax coffers, despite themselves making heavy use of schools, hospitals and services.

There are many people who have never added anything to the nations budget but make heavy use of hospitals and services!

Kids dont need to at such a young age. Its their parents responsibility

I think children are great between the ages of 0 and 5. Up to the age of about 8 I'm ok with them but struggle a bit when they are older than that (especially with girls sometimes for some reason). But not as much as I struggle with (some) adults!
(sorry about the late reply to this thread. I was reading some older posts and this one caught my attention. I think I was barely here in the summer of 2023)

I'm sorry you came from an unhappy home Angela

My great nephew has just turned 6 months and is an absolute bundle of joy. His father, my nephew is pretty cool too, in fact I don't know where I'd be now if he hadn't reconnected. I never knew how much my nephews appreciated the times I spent with them when they were younger and all those cherished memories they hold were later repaid with much heartfelt Christian love, kindness and mushrooms.
