Cannabis users 'more likely to have a heart attack'
Smoking cannabis dramatically increases a person’s risk of suffering a heart attack, according to a major new study.
Researchers in the United States found that, over a five-year period, regular users in their early 30s were 4.6 times more likely to have a cardiac-related illness than those who did not smoke the drug. Users in their late 20s were three times more likely to have a heart attack. https://themissouriinjuryblog.com/31...-heart-attack/ |

Re: Cannabis users 'more likely to have a heart attack'
But..... was it the cannabis that increased the risk or people smoking cannabis with tobacco which caused heart problems?
I think they would need to compare people who use it in ways other than smoking with people who smoke it to get a proper sense of what the risks are. |

Re: Cannabis users 'more likely to have a heart attack'
Lack of any real sources or data in that article, nor do they have any details on what constitutes "regular use".
You'd expect to see a correlation either way, right? If you're smoking anything (tobacco, cannabis, wood bark, whatever) you're inhaling a lot of nasty and dangerous chemicals (carbon monoxide, tar, formaldehyde, for example). I'd be willing to bet this study focuses purely on smoking and glazes over edibles, vaporisers, tinctures and any other method that doesn't have a lot of those harmful side-products. Also willing to bet that an objective, balanced study would show that there's little to no link between non-combustion cannabis use and heart attacks. |

Re: Cannabis users 'more likely to have a heart attack'
^^^ But it does specifically say cannabis smokers. I think that this would need a lot more investigation as to whether the way cannabis is taken affects people's heart.
