Thumbs up Fact Finder!

In this game one person chooses a topic (ie. cats) and the next person then has to post a statistic or fascinating fact about this topic. They then choose the next topic.

ie. If I posted ‘cats’ as the topic the next person could Google it (or use their memory of random facts!) and then find ‘It is known that 25 percent of cat owners blow-dry their cats after bathing.’.
They would then post the next topic of their choosing!

All three women with whom Hitler had close relationships attempted suicide during their relationship with him, a fact which has led to speculation that Hitler may have had unusual sexual fetishes, such as urolagnia.
People with urolagnia often like to urinate in public, or urinate on, or be urinated on by other people, and may drink the urine.

The Crack of a whip is not the leather hitting itself. The tip actually goes faster than the speed of sound and creates a sonic boom.

its the loop travelling along the whip that creats a sonic boom not the tip as is popularly thought. The tip actually goes faster than the speed of sound.

I agree -its suprising that the great Stephen Fry got the whip thing wrong . I saw that programme and thats why I looked it up. Its one of those "facts" that has recently been updated such as the Nile is not the longest river . I think thay discovered its the Amazon.

(quote Wickie)
Blue Haze is an album recorded in 1953 and 1954 by Miles Davis, for Prestige Records. The first track on the album is from the 3 April 1954 session which resulted in half of the album Walkin' (and was originally included on the 10" vinyl version of that album). The remainder is the result of two sessions on 19 May 1953 and 15 March 1954, the first being a quintet with John Lewis, Charles Mingus (on piano, not bass), Percy Heath and Max Roach, and the second a quartet with Horace Silver, Heath, and Art Blakey. Tracks 2 and 7 are wrongly credited as Davis compositions - they are both in fact by Eddie Vinson (see also Donna Lee for possible explanation of this). However, Vinson supposedly wrote these tunes for Davis, and this is probably how the confusion has occurred.

"(I Never Promised You a) Rose Garden" was the title of a song written by Joe South, that is best known as recorded by country legend Lynn Anderson. Her late 1970 release topped the U.S. country charts, reached #3 on the U.S. Billboard pop charts and remained the biggest selling recording by a female country artist until 1997. Anderson's recording sold over 16 million copies and has since become a country/pop music standard.

I've got a feeling that the song title "Never promised you-------" itself was a quote from something previous like a novel or biography.

Man Hands is a parody of the song "Badlands" by Bruce Springsteen and was written by Charlie Decker:

And excerpt from the parody is:

Quote:
Man hands!
Yes you deal with them every day
But they're on your own wrists, and that makes it all OK
Among us men it's understood
That these man hands on women ain't good
