Small Things You Were Proud of in 2017
I thought I'd seen a thread like this today, but must be losing the plot because I can't seem to find it! Sorry if this is a duplicate and feel free to delete, mods.
Anyway, as the title says, things you feel pleased about from the past year, however small: - I went abroad alone for the first time. - Had a few difficult conversations at work. - Attended the first job interview I've had in 4+ years. Messed it up but still shocked I even attended tbh. - Started trying to adjust the way I view and deal with anxiety stuff. Haven't got all that far but it's a start I suppose. |

Re: Small Things You Were Proud of in 2017
Maybe buying a newer car, and experiencing speed dating. Nothing much new here. Besides getting a crown to repair a broken front tooth, which I'd been self-conscious of for the past couple of years.

^ Yes I second that. And Hey sometimes just getting through the year is something to be proud of. I'm doubly amazed by all the achievements involving driving as it's something I can't imagine doing myself. It's like a whole other social sphere to navigate except everyone's in big metal destruction machines - like robot wars. I salute you all.

Re: Small Things You Were Proud of in 2017
i think my only "achievement" in 2017 was not falling apart after my relationship ended. I've also ended the year nicotine free - I still vape, but I use zero nicotine liquids now.
The membership of my meetup groups has grown (and I've "adopted" a third group) and events are better attended (including nine foreign trips I hosted), but that's a natural progression of what I started in 2016, rather than an achievement. It's been a solid year, I've laid foundations for the future and built on others I laid in previous years, but I wouldn't say that I've achieved anything at all really. EDIT: no sooner do I press "send" than I remember what I should be proud of. Four people who were previously agoraphobic are now enjoying a social life because I was able to help them. |

Re: Small Things You Were Proud of in 2017
I can't say I had any 'achievements' in 2017 as such, other than continuing to take the small, positive steps I've made in recent years.
Getting out of the house more often (barring the 'old' me which was just for work) is probably the notable difference between the 2017 me and the me from about four/five years ago. I also returned to London to spend another three days there with my brother, as I did the previous year. Stayed out late, went to theatre e.t.c… Basically doing things I wouldn't normally do. Pushing my boundaries and trying to get myself out of that comfort zone with my own terms – knowing how and when I can push myself. It's given me a little more self-confidence in myself . I just wish I had more money to to it more often! |

Re: Small Things You Were Proud of in 2017
I passed my driving test and got a car.
Went on holiday abroad (I'd only been on a plane once before, in 2016, so that was quite cool). Finished a counselling course which gave me a new qualification. Finally left my dead-end job and started a new career. On paper, it's been looking good. I don't think there had ever been a year before the last where I'd achieved so many big milestones! But the reality is I'm still struggling with many things (e.g. though I'm in a new job, I'm not sure I'll be able to tackle the challenges it's going to confront me with, long-term). Still, I'm going to keep going. |

Re: Small Things You Were Proud of in 2017
Got a job and stuck at it despite really wanting to quit.
Dated an older woman for the first time a genuine milf Took my mum to Wembley to see Spurs. Given how many issues i have with her i'm amazed i did it. My mate was also there, spent the whole journey up on edge. Also went to Wembley for the first time within that. Went to the Drs a few times and feel that I've gotten over my anxiety going there. Given i didn't go when i broke my ribs or did my knee ligament (still plays me up now, four years on) it's a pretty important one. |

Re: Small Things You Were Proud of in 2017
* Meeting up with someone who's turned out to be very special to me
*attending an exercise class and sticking with it *attending a maths course at college. *going to the doctors about getting help with SA *last year was the year I started leaving the house a LOT more. Looking back I have made a quite a lot of positive steps throughout 2017 which I normally find hard to see. |
