Maybe it should have been made friends and not relationships.

^ I would not call it secretive - Its probably that people like to keep things private.

I was going to make a similar point. Take Facebook for example. Some people play their relationships out through social media. Other people, you wouldn't even know they were in a relationship because they don't regularly post about it. I think it's less being secretive and more about keeping certain parts of your life private. Some people want to share the fact that they are in a relationship with others, and that's fine, whilst some people don't. I think the latter should also be respected.

I think the main reason people are secretive about these relationships, is to avoid the embarrassment of the public break up.

I used to be in a relationship with another SAUKer, they didn't really post and I didn't post much either at that time so I don't think anyone would have been interested about it!

I felt really lucky to have met someone here and it always makes me happy to see people form relationships or friendships through the forum

There are a few members on here I would like to get to know better, but it takes me all my courage to post the normal stuff.

I am always worried that anybody I message will think I am a stalker or some weird lonely guy, (oops, I am that now).

tbh Surprises me that more SAUKers don't get together, but suppose it could be they like to be more secretive/private.

Found it a lot easier to meet and talk to Winter, someone who's going through similar social anxiety issues to myself. More mutual understanding between us because we both have SA. It was still innitially difficult to open up, but not impossible. Plus, I wouldn't be interested in having a hectic social life etc, so doubt I'd be compatible with many confident women and they wouldn't find me compatible either. imo Chance of meeting a compatible person is greater among the SA community.

However, if meeting someone be sure to do so in a safe public place.

Meet, form a friendship/s and see what happens. But remember this is not a dating site. Many/most SAUKers going to organised meetings are not interested in a "relationship" and their feelings must be respected. Those going just for a day out should not be put off meetings.

I agree with Winter and Misskitty

A lot of friendships are formed from a random private message from another forum member.
