When is it?? There's been about 20 trailers already, just get on with it and stop teasing.

Lol, anything to stop people cancelling their sub. The past month or so has been a bit quiet with Prime, not a lot in it for me. Netflix has been awful too. Do we know whether they'll drop the lot or drip feed it? I'm not the least hyped about it - if it's good then it's a little something to look forward to, otherwise meh.

It starts on 2nd September. Only the critics have seen it.

There seems to be a good reception from the critics who have been able to see some episodes. But of course we can't really trust reviewers to be impartial!

Yes, I'm worried too! I have only seen the first teaser trailer. I've been deliberately avoiding them so it's fresh.

NO I will not.

Peter Jackson's trilogy was a wonderful screen adaptation, and there is no need for this Amazon version.

^ Bold and in caps! Mike means furious business.

Yes, there is no way this series will be Tolkienesque - other than the setting and types of characters. It's going to be for an adult audience. I feel like I'll be saying, "Well, we're definitely not in The Shire any more!" to my cat who doesn't give a flying fish.

Did you know that it's a completely different concept to the LOTR trilogy? It's not a remake. They wouldn't dare. Amazon has principals (lol).

Peter Jackson did make The Hobbit films too and strayed from the book.

Tomorrow is the day, my preciouses!

Perhaps any comments about the plot should be behind spoilers? Or don't click on the thread until you're up to date with the episodes.

How does this work? What's television show thread-etiquette? I've never watched something on time. I'm usually four years after everyone else

^ Yeah I'm the same, I never watch anything on time too. Why is that? I think for me it takes a lot of effort to commit to anything. Like, I don't want to go into it half arsed.

Kind of agree. The Hobbit was unwatchable. But the Lord of the Rings was an amazing achievement. Jackson doesn't get enough credit.

I quite enjoyed LOTR when it came out, but don't think much of it now (that i'm an old ****). The Hobbit was quite bad overall. I'm very pleased to hear that it's more adult orientated. I'm not expecting a complete LOTR/GOT crossover but a bit of gore, T&A and a few well placed swears will be nice, not to mention an intriguing story with some complexity. I may start it tonight..

Okay, after the second, i'm inclined to rate it around the 'fairly good', 7/10 mark. The only two people irl that i've spoken to about it have both said 'slow paced', which is what came to mind at times during the first episode.

Yes its definitely slow paced, I suppose theres going to be a lot of characters and inter-woven stories and backgrounds that we will have to process so maybe in these early episodes its not a bad thing. Given its '12' rating, its certainly a family friendly affair too.

Having also just watch House of Dragon too, also on episode 2, Im finding that both series' are already merging in my head. Definitely proving to be a daft idea to watch both along side each other.

^ You've seen enough trailers though!

So disappointed with the 12 rating. I really wanted that LOTR GOT merger. I find Elves really quite boring too.

I've never seen Games of Thrones - or any of its trailers!

^^ 12 rating is not the problem. The only T&A needed is Tolkein and Atmosphere.

Hm, not the least convinced. Partway through the 3rd and i'm scaling my rating down to a 6/10 (up to this point in the series that is).

I can't bring myself to watch it because I just love LOTR too much to cheat on it.

The first episode is indeed rubbish. Subsequent episodes do get better so it's worth giving it more of a try.
