Re: What are you listening to just now?
Tube nerdom.
Just notice how door speed isn’t entirely door speed or dwell time. With Jubilee And Northern line despite fast door speeds they always need to slow down towards the end of opening or closing which increases door time. Seems improved with the Victoria Line gen of trains. The S Stock at the end don’t appear to have faster doors however the doors open at the most consistent speed which probably actually makes them faster. The pic line seems to have smooth quick doors as well though I think it takes time before the door actually closes, there is lag between the drivers action and doors closing I theorise. |

Re: What are you listening to just now?
^ Ashamed to say I've always been completely ignorant about his work Other than hearing Fairytale of New York every year, obviously. The Pogues are like The Fall, one of those revered bands I'm aware of but never gone out of my way to listen to. I'm almost afraid to, in case I just end up thinking 'Yeah, it's alright, I suppose...'

Re: What are you listening to just now?
^ I was similar, I just knew them for the one Christmas song I quite like, but The Pogues are def worth delving into. How they fused traditional Irish music with punk rock was so brilliant. If I Should Fall from Grace with God and Rum, Sodomy and the Lash are ruddy good albums.

Re: What are you listening to just now?
If I Should Fall from Grace with God is a great album. My dad had it on cassette back in the early '90s. I wasn't allowed to listen to it, because it contains a very small amount of swearing ("Dad, I'm fucking nine years old"). So I borrowed it and copied it onto a blank tape.
Some odd stuff on the album too, like this... |

^ Your Dad was right, no nine year old should be exposed to Shane Macgowan.
Two more good ones: |

Re: What are you listening to just now?
I think I find new tube like trains a bit weird because they seem like the category in-between trams and metro trains like NY Subway or even the sub surface Underground trains. The rolling stock seems more similar to DLR than older tube like trains that seemed more similar to heavy rail trains.
Even looking at the new tube for London if you see the train family it comes from Siemens Inspiro, other trains of this family seem closer to DLR trains than heavy rail trains. This is my opinion but I may be wrong. |

What he is speaking about in the beginning also applies to Gen Alpha. I’ve seen videos about how them being in iPads is disturbing even from a few self help subscribers so it’s a popular topic it seems right now.

Re: What are you listening to just now?
Quite fascinating, made me randomly think of I should learn how to make motors.
I need to watch it multiple times to understand it properly, and would probably need to try building motors, but so far I understand that modern and old train motors kind of try to do the same thing but with modern ac motors they have figured out how to make the motors work more precisely and then even modern motors are still similar to each other but certain stuff makes them sound more different. But my understanding is really basic. |

Re: What are you listening to just now?
It's interesting whilst I think late age teenagers don't look too different to 20-somethings and some 30- somethings, the content of their childhood seems like it would be different to someone in their 20's. It definitely shows here, even people in their mid 20's I think because they experienced 2000's internet and whilst they got a phone earlier than someone my age, 29, it definitely wasn't an iPhone as a first phone.

Re: What are you listening to just now?
It annoys me when people think having autism that isn't eay to notice, means that the autism shouldn't be a big deal. Or when people say stuff such as "Autism being over-diagnosed and not meaning much." This is where I think experience and understanding is actually more important than awareness. From my experience, awareness means that you are aware of the label. However, you can still lack an understanding or idea of what the disorder may entail.
