Default Guitar Shredders

anyone here into their Gutar virtuoso's or "shredders"?
I've always loved Hendrix / Steve Hillage / Steve Vai, / John Mclaughlin / Joe Satriani / ...the list goes on,....
I got into a guy called Bumblefoot a while ago, and he's not long re-released his first album,( The Adventures of Bumblefoot ) think it has some amazing pieces on it,.Rinderpest in particular, he's definately up there with all the greats.

(if I had a decent web set-up I'd be able to post the music piece I'm on about )

anyone got any fave music pieces for fellow 'shredder' fans ?

thanks for that Superfred

yeah,..he's got a really quirky sense of humour, but I must admit I'd rather he ( in the words of Frank Zappa ) just shut up an' play his guitar

Out of all the known big boys I think I like Satriani the best. Although I think there's technically better, I just think his stuff is the most fun to listen to as far as shredding-based stuff goes.

I have his Live in Sanfrancisco DVD and would recommend it. Not sure I dig the chrome guitar & leather trousers combo he's sporting in it, but that's Satch for ya. :P

Not totally related but I come across this vid a few weeks back and thought it was totally cool. It's just like he's playing in your lounge or something.

Yeah, for all the technical wizardry he still has a strong sense of melody and and plays with, I feel, a bit more soul than a lot of other highly technical players.

But does anyone find it an overkill, to overshred ? A lad I studied with wanted to go and see Dragonforce who may well be technically brilliant, it got quite tedious after a while though, perhaps it ain't my thing.
How about Tony Iommi across the ages (all bands to solo work).

Music starts at 3:08. He's got a great feel and sense of melody, check out the first sweep at 3:40 really fun sounding.

had to share this shit-kicking music,..

I'd always pegged Lee Ritenour as a laid-back easy-vibe Jazz Guitarist but this track kicks some serious ass !
