I don't have difficulty identifying emotions, my own or other people's, but I do seem to have a difficulty in remembering my own emotions, does that make sense? I could sort of tell you how I feel now but not how I felt last week or how I felt growing up. It doesn't help that my life seems to lack any significant milestones to even identify different time periods.

I don't remember how I felt in the past either.

Sometimes I can be having a really rough time (internally) but look at photos from that time where I'm enjoying myself and I don't remember the low mood I was in or the negative thoughts I was having.

When I say I don't remember, I mean obviously I do remember, or I wouldn't know I didn't remember.

But I can look at the photos or think back to the time and think "that was quite a good time" but then if I really think about it, I might remember that actually I was having a hard time despite looking like I wasn't. Or I might look at photos and think I look happy so it must've been a good time. But then I think to myself, I've been down for years, so surely I was down in that time.

It goes to show, that for me at least, my thoughts are the issue, not the situation I am in. My life is pretty much good. I'm not hungry, have a roof over my head, get to do some fun stuff. Lots could be better but there's nothing bad in the grand scheme of things.

The only reason I suffer is because of what I think, not what actually happens.

If you still have old school reports take them with you when you go for your assessment.

Mine said i lack consentration and that went a long way to getting my diagnosis.

Make sure you empasise the easily distracted and in own world part. Have a look through your old school report to see if there's any mention of consentration problems.

Why do jobs feel like you have to sacrifice part of yourself to do them?

Started a new job as a kitchen porter have been one before. I thought I was slow but in this job I don’t think I’m too slow. I enjoy having to work out the flow of the job as I think good organisation makes the job more efficient. However I dislike the lack of respect I get. Having long hours, tbh though the chefs work more. I occasionally do 11 hour shifts but it seems some chefs do that regularly. I don’t like that much work as it means you have to sacrifice your lively hood for the job. Probably health as well. I notice other restaurant staff are regularly hungry. I put that down to the carb heavy diet they have.

Maybe I need a job that involves good organisation skills and some repetitiveness but allows me to make more money and maintain the lifestyle I want.

I’m sleeping so late on my day off. Spent all day in my pc. I think I need to try a dopamine detox.

I don’t think I’m that unusual but sometimes my beliefs or values are a bit left field to mainstream values and beliefs that I probably come across as unusual.

For example keto is quite popular and normal on some parts of the internet. At the pub I work at though it must come across as me being ott although I’ve just said I don’t eat sugar.

Now I’m thinking of doing a dopamine detox. Again not that weird but I also think a lot of my age mates would consider this but not most of them.

Oo, interesting - what you see there is all an act for the telly, I'm pretty sure. My brother used to be a chef in two of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants in London (Foxtrot Oscar, and later Petrus). He met Gord himself a couple of times - apparently he was very pleasant! Of course Ramsay has absolutely sod-all to do with the cheffing side of things nowadays.

On the other hand, my brother's boss, the head chef at Petrus was a complete arsehole who once bawled out my bro and actually made him cry. Cheffing sounds like a mega harsh environment to work in - kudos to anyone that can hack it. That's your line of work isn't it, amara (IIRC)?

I'm sure if Gordon was still a head chef he'd be bawling people out and making them cry!

Thinking how much I like the light sunny mornings, especially when my neighbours aren't up to ruin them with noise.

I bought a 2014 car in 2017, The car itself was absolutely fine but a couple of years into ownership the key fobs started going wonky and stopped working/jammed. I lost faith in them when one day it was pissing it down and the fob had decided to wind all the windows down £500 later and 2 new key fobs it had annoyed me..so I got rid in 2019. Also in 2019 I bought a brand new fancy pants sporty dickhead version of the same sort of car but the latest model.

Today..the main key fob has died on me

It's also keyless so I can't even try and pair the damn thing, I am not going through this again

-edit-

Turns out a full pack of duracell batteries ..dud

Who'da thought, I was all for ringing up tomorrow to kick off but a pack of energizers from Amazon for the grand sum of £2.60..problem solved

^ That's a shame, it shows how one person's mood and treatment of other people can affect how those other people feel doesn't it. I've been standing in a queue before and the person at the till was really smiley and friendly to the person in front me and then when I get to the front of the queue the smile totally disappeared!

^ One good thing about masks is that it makes it easier not to notice other people's expressions or have them notice ours!
