Re: What didn't you know until recently?
That the best barbers I've seen at fading Black mans hair on youtube actually start from using larger guards to smaller guards as less hair is easier to fade apparently and with larger guards you can clean up some hair inconsistencies. Also one barber says it's important to comb while cutting to line up the hair evenly, that's obvious common sense but also easy to ignore.
I use to just fade going up in guard sizes each time. I'm following their tips for the future. |

Re: What didn't you know until recently?
That there are different tasting varieties of radish. I love most vegetables (it's only really mushrooms that I don't eat) but radish is just 'ouch' on my tongue. On Thursday, I tried mooli - which is a type of radish, and it was far milder and yum.

Re: What didn't you know until recently?
Aye there's plenty of different types and colours.
Mooli's can be huge. 12 inchers. Ooh matron. They're mostly lovely and sweet and you can slice em round and eat em like crisps. But sometimes you get a devil hot one that gives you a surprise on your tongue. You should get some White Icicle radish seeds. They'll grow in any soil and grow max about finger length. But they always taste sweet. Out of all the radish family they're the best ones. The leaves are great in a salad too! |

Oh wow. Thank you. I will look out for some white icicle seeds!
All this time I just thought radishes were only the evil, little taste-bud-melting pink ones. |

Re: What didn't you know until recently?
Ohh those are some pretty radishes. I love radishes in general.
On that note: I found out that Bell Peppers are colored differently (IE: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green), not because they are different breeds, but because they are picked at different stages! That's why the different colors can cost more sometimes. They take longer to grow. (I work in the produce department, so I may have a lot of random produce facts haha) |

That there are different varieties of pillows!
I bought some new pillows, didn't think much of at the time of buying. I picked Silent Night ones because I like nights that are silent and yeah, I didn't really think about it beyond that. They're so puffed up. I'm practically propped up at a 50 degree angle. Why is their width so wide? I think I'm going to have to put them in a bag and run them over with my car to flatten them. Arrrrg... I can't sleep like this. |

Ah, yes, Ricky - i've already seen the 'after' pics. I think it was an issue with him between fights that he'd let go and get out of shape.

^ I much prefer non-fiction to fiction.
I don't enjoy reading at all to be honest! I could read before I started school, and would read all the time...then I completely lost interest in reading. I'd like to pay someone to read to me though. |

Re: What didn't you know until recently?
The barbering trade was initially a way for Blacks to partially escape from slavery. It's also ironic how African Amricans use to cut White Americans hair but Jim Crow laws brought about segregation so Blacks went to inly cutting Black peoples hair and vice versa and this seems like even until recently, it was normal for a White person to cut White peoples hair and vice versa. I think it's slowly changing though as it seems culture in the West nowadays seems to be getting more mixed and certain popular haircuts such as fades are mostly the same technique cutting different hair textures.

In 1910, only 9% of Africans were Christian. Now it's estimated that around 63% are.[As of 2019]
In a way this highlights the importance of documenting a cultures history if you want it to progress. |
