I have been bitten so much by every insect I think that there is in this country. I am covered in bites, on my arms, legs, face and chest. I am so itchy. I feel like screaming!!!
I nearly had a panic attack when out walking yesterday near the lakes, as I had hundreds of wasp type flies, attacking me and following me. They just would not leave me alone. It was horrible. The old farmer, near me, told me to put vinegar on me to stop the flies. I may try it, even if I will smell
Funny how dogs hate fans (or being blown on ) so much? One of lifes mysteries I guess.

I was hiking in the West Highlands last week and find the only way to cope with flies, cleggs, insects in general is to keep calm and carry on what youre doing. Dont rush about flapping your arms or stuuff like that cause itll just attract them even more. I still got a fair few bites mind you but nothing too bad this year

P.S. DONT scratch the bites, it will make them itch more.

I keep scratching too. Not good I know but I can't help it, even though the bites are getting a better. The horse fly ones are the worst.
What are cleggs???
Clegs are Horse- Flys (Cleg is just a Scots term for them). Often their bites can become infected and turn very nasty although thts never happened with me thankfully.

Its just my personal experience that "flapping about" makes insects attack more. I do know that biting insects home in on exhaled breath, and sweat odours so perhaps that has something to do with it. Maybe somebody jumping about will sweat more and breath quicker thus attracting more insects? Just a guess but who knows.

Yes, I feel the same way, it's just so dreadful. I don't know why I have only just 'woken' up to this fact and I'm 49. I was always shunning people and now I need someone more than anything in the world. At the weekend I tried contacting anyone but only had one success at 'contact' but think I may have fudged it a bit. Sorry for hijacking but I'll be your friend . I mean last year I was having such anxiety and wouldn't answer the phone (I knew it was my friend) and they died a week before Christmas. I'm heartbroken.

I used to have a lot of friends, but disowned them, due to how I became, and now there is no one. They were not the type of friends who would ever have wanted to be around me with how I became.
Due to this lovely social anxiety, I find it so difficult to allow people to get to know me. I push people away a lot. Maybe I don't want people to see me as I really am in this awful situation. I find it so hard to trust people.
I think having friends is sometimes preferable to having a boyfriend/husband. I think depending on one person is not a good thing.
Thanks Tabitha. I think you're right. I actually emailed his daughter at the weekend and hope to maybe phone his wife too. I just feel guilty that I come across as 'me me me' all the time. I hope not.

I think my situation is quite similar in that I too have shunned everyone and now it's come back to haunt me . I feel for you and everyone else in this situation.

I feel a bit sullen, my mate who got married this time last year, is having his one year wedding anniversary celebration party tonight and I didn't get invited, I'm glad in a way, he probably knows I wouldn't have declined, but sad in another.

Sorry. I'm sure she wouldn't want you to feel guilty. The important thing is that you're there for her.

^ I declare the day crap when I wake up and then adjust later if necessary. It rarely is.

I'm frantically panicking and trying to make sure it doesn't show. I've been doing it for weeks and it's very tiring. Also I feel weird posting in the 30+ topic when I stated recently that I think it shouldn't exist. But it would have been way weirder to reply to DR in the other 'feelings' thread.

Well I cashed in my £10 lotto ticket this morning however tomorrow I have to go into the regional office for work, to have a yearly update training seminar, a staff meeting and quick one to one with my manager, now this is all very straightforward and I have done this many many times before but my SA is kicking in already and I have taken up a semi permenant position on the loo.
