Re: Which is your favorite decade for music
I have voted for the 1960's as I was influenced by my brother record collection and he was 9 years older than me, however my own record collection is from the 1970's. Anything after 1982 and I struggle with, I may recognise the music but I cannot recall the artists.
This morning I was listening to Steve Allen on the radio and he mentioned that Carol Decker was coming in to record an interview with him later this morning, I didn't recognise the name so I goggled it, still none the wiser, until I put in T'pau into you tube and then my very old large copper penny dropped. |

Re: Which is your favorite decade for music
I like modern and 90's music best, the best rock, pop and metal. I like modern dubstep.
Find myself feeling sad and depresed listening to 80's pop music from my childhood, as it keeps reminding me of disasters like Chernobyl and Lockerbie. |

Re: Which is your favorite decade for music
70's by a country mile.
Disco, glam rock, punk, 2 tone, The John Peel Show, Slade, Blondie, The Jam, Elton John. No other decade can compete. |

Re: Which is your favorite decade for music
I like music from most eras, '80s a bit dodgy until hip hop, 'dance' music came in the late '80s. So the 90s/naughties have the best memories for me when I first was able to dance without having to talk

Re: Which is your favorite decade for music
I love the 80s. Too many groups to list but back then music was music, after the 90s music went downhill very very quickly and I wouldn't give you a cent for most the crap they churn out nowadays.

Re: Which is your favorite decade for music
I am a big fan of Frank Zappa. He was busy creating music from the late 60s, through the 70s and 80s until his death in 1993. I consider myself very fortunate that my life coincided with his for long enough that I was able to see him live in 1988.

Re: Which is your favorite decade for music
Tough choice but for origin unknown, the development of hardcore, drum and bass and jungle it has to be the 90s. Ideally 89-99 if we can shift it a year
I wouldnt want to loose the 60s,70s though. Or the early techno from the 80s. Lets just keep em all ! |

Re: Which is your favorite decade for music
The 1980's was the time that I really began to listen to music a lot, that was mainly down to the video music channels like MTV and VH1.
The 1990s were when I started going to live gigs, I went to loads. But I think there was a lot of crap produced in the 1990's, so my favourite is the 1980s. |

Re: Which is your favorite decade for music
There are so many good solo artists and bands from all decades so it's hard to choose but based on what I listen to most,it would probably the 80's and 90's.

Re: Which is your favorite decade for music
When I were a lad in the late 70's early 80's I never really liked much of the stuff you'd find in the charts, the more obscure the better. Didn't buy much, preferred to listen to what's going on there and then. Avid John Peel listener. The Fall to The Smiths, Ivor Cutler to Billy Bragg, Bhundu Boys to Joy Division, Misty In Roots to Sex Pistols, Stiff Little Fingers to Specials, Wedding Present to Half Man Half Biscuit, Orchestral Manoevers In The Dark to Jesus And Mary Chain. Anything but Stock Aitkin and Waterman. (Although it isn't so bad listening to it now, hated Disco but even quite like Abba now! ). Most didn't do well in the charts. In fact, if you only take chart stuff in to consideration I prefered 90's Brit Pop to 80's or 70's. Lost touch after the 90's. So can't vote.

I remember at the time (I'd have been 8 or 9) thinking they were adults, maybe even middle aged. Then years later I found out they were like 15 or 16. |

The 60's. Beatles, Kinks, Doors, Hendrix, Joplin, Stones, prime Dylan, Thw Who, Love, The Sonics, Cohen, Beach Boys, The Band, Johnny Cash (purely for live at Folsom) and Sam Cooke plus tonnes more. Will never be beaten.
A decade that I experienced, 90's. |
