Default Holiday alone!!Help

I need some advice, from anyone.

I have some holiday time available from work that I have to use by October. I want to go abroad but have no one to go with. It's not ideal and is a practical problem of having SA/Aspergers.

I only have 2 friends and neither can come with me but I want to travel this year.

I'll have to pay slightly more and the thought of wondering round hotels and foreign streets alone is slightly worrying. As is having to eat alone - how depressing when presumably families and couples will be having a good time together.

Does anyone know of a singles holiday agent or any good route for me to take or anything I can do to make my time abroad less lonely?

For me, if I were in the same position, I think I would go somewhere that would be of interest to me, so that there is always something to do.

Say, if you went on the usual package holiday to a beach resort, then lying round on the beach all day by yourself watching all the other families having fun could be a little depressing as well as boring. Having said that, that may be just want to do, sit around and relax while watching the activities, around you, and maybe even joining in.

But, say, if you were interested in ancient history, then it would be wise to go somewhere that is rich with ancient sites and architecture. This way you can always keep yourself occupied with something you are passionate about.

Or, your forte may be art, in which case a place like Paris may be a good stop, where you can spend all your time round galleries and even just viewing the city.

Then again, there will be adventure type holidays, places where you can meet up with groups, maybe skiing holidays. Too many to choose from really, but I guess these are only for if you're feeling brave and up for a little socialising.

Also try Solos: www.solosholidays.co.uk. No single room supplement, they go everywhere you could possibly imagine and are well organised. Been on quite a few now and enjoyed them.

Thanks everyone.

I've had a look at travelsphere and solo and have ordered some brochures. It looks like I'll be off to Italy or France.

I have to say that some single tour operators will only do over 25's and I am 23. I don't know why this is but as I am not a club 18-30 partyer I feel this is discrimatory.

Still, this will only be my 2nd time abroad and a well deserved break given that I've been working hard dispite my SA/Aspergers all year.

Someone should set up a thread for SA travellers as a lot of people must suffer from practical problems like this. I wanted to go to a masked ball and a Murder Mystery tour last month but you can't do that on your own - even when you have the courage to want to go out.

Would SA'ers welcome some sort of travel organisation?

Yes, I would welcome it. I often want to travel places but I can't be bothered to do it on my own as there are just so many issues.
