The job centre guy today said to me 'you don't come across as anxious at all' (he wasn't being judgy - just conversational). It does annoy me a little though, it's like so you not on the edge of a nervous breakdown so you must be fine.

The nuances of SA really do seem lost on the wider public. The avoidance, the constant worry, the not being able to cope being around folk at times, the negative view of yourself. The visible anxiety is reigned in because of safety behaviours most of the time.

The thing is answers to questions such as these can never be given with satisfactorily. I find myself answering with 'I don't really know' or 'well it is in an environment I feel comfortable in'.
Yeah, off the top of my head I can never give a good answer. Often with me it can be the person, some ppl make me more anxious than others, also the context of the interaction - for instance i had to email my dental practice about my dissatisfaction of the treatment I had, I would not have been able to do this face to face or by phone. Asking for something, or for help I struggle with and so on and on. I can listen to others and talk about others but not so much about myself (I think cause it focuses attention on to me). It does vary from person to person, some folk - usually chatty, open folk I can be fine with.
Other things like say a doc appointment/mental health appointment I can sit and talk with little anxiety cause the interaction is predictable and 'structured'.

It's all these variables that make SA bloody annoying and kind of impossible for (some) other ppl to get.

Thinking too much about the future. Loneliness and alone-ness and where I'm heading (probably nowhere). I was looking at pictures of me as a kid the other night (happened to be clearing out a cupboard) and can't help but wonder how it could have all gone so horribly wrong.

Money money money :-(

I've recently left my job due to anxiety and whilst its great not having to worry about the social confrontations every single day... leaving work does present a new problem hahaha :-|

Longing, sadness and guilt for unknowingly upsetting a special lady at work who has now unfriended me and can't forgive me. I mis-interpreted a hug from her and told her I adored her. She told me she adored me too. I hugged her and kissed her twice on the cheek. We looked longingly at one another and repeated each others names. But now she says I have betrayed her trust, she can't forgive me and she has unfriended me. It hurts so much and has been so for the nearly 3 months.

I thought she shared the same feelings that I felt for her but I seem to have mis interpreted what I thought were the signs and signals showing that. I don't think my SA got in the way because for the first 5 years our relationship grew despite my 'handicap' for want of a better word. She suffers from depression and is in an unhappy marriage. She is due to take early retirement from work in January 2020 and move away to live with her married daughter and family. I know I will never see her again after this. In the meantime I have to pretend to her that we are just 'colleagues'. Since August the situation had improved a little in that a few weeks ago she felt we were 'getting there' in terms of a resumption of friendship. However on other days it seems further away than ever.

I like some of the threads here, like the thread about David Bowie. But I guess it could also be in a general forum.

What did the 0-29 and 82+ years old do to deserve being banished from a section of the forum?

It's quite a dead section I think and I've never really properly used it.

I think it made sense back in the day when there were many more people posting. It's useless now.
