the losers

the title of this film is misleading. i thought it was gonna be about a bunch of losers. the only thing anyone comes close to losing in this is their big fat egos. this was like the A Team on steroids without the class and originality only serving thier own interests to clear their names. flippin eck this was bad. 2/10

the book of eli

another post-apocalyptic film about this kickass fighting preacher dude who we're led to believe has been walking like 30 years in a decimated wasteland carrying the last bible on earth trying to get to the west coast cos he was told to in a vision. along the way he gets involved in a mardy with a nasty man and his scumbag henchmen cos he wants it to start his own cult. felt like i was back at sunday school watching this, its heavy on religious belief and faith. if it wasn't for the violence you'd be mistaken for thinking this was financed by the church. the twist at the end was silly. it ruined a perfectly crap film. watch the road instead. 3/10

Jindabyne 6/10

Decent Australian drama focusing on the lives of a group of families affected by the murder of a local Aboriginal girl. Uncompromising portrayal of bitterness and varying attitudes to life's set backs.

I watched Another Country. It was just a sweet, sweet film. Nothing too heavy, nothing too deep.

High School Musical 7/10 - I some what enjoyed it - singing wasn't that good but was nice to watch something different

High School Musical 2 4/10 - It's basically same as the first film

High School Musical 3 N/A - The first two films gave me a brain tumor so I didn't watch it yet

I hated the Nightmare on Elm Street remake!

Just like all of these remakes from Michael Bay and his crew of idiots, they completely missed the point of the original. Why does everything need that stupid orange tint? It was the same with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, they seem to think it looks more gritty if everything has a stupid orange tint.

The original while gory at times, was never gory for the sake of being gory. It didn't resort to cheap scares and overly sadistic violence, it was all about atmosphere and dread. Something which the remake completely ignored and turned it into another half arsed slasher film.

I have never understood why the vast majority of films that are re-made do not need to be at all, except maybe to lure people in for pure curiosity value

:o I love Crash. Brilliant film!

Today I watched -Dear John

Meh, it was alright. I just really felt the need to watch something romantic and a bit rubbish, something that I'd not seen before either to take my mind off things. Storyline was predictable apart from one twist I definitely didn't see coming (which wasn't that convincing). I wasn't so sure I'd like the female lead as she annoyed me in Mamma Mia! (Actually the whole of Mamma Mia! annoyed me.) but she was ok. The film was perfect for watching today but I don't think it was anything special.

Despite Jackie Earle Haley's decent performance as a darker and more realistic Freddy, the film was fairly dire. The characters were your usually teen-slasher 2D annoyances, and you really didn't care whether they ended up skewered or winning the lottery.
It's a shame because they got Freddy so right. From the hints that this time around he was a pedophile, to the far more impressive makeup, he out-Freddied Robert Englund. It's just unfortunate that the plot was so slow and mundane. 4/10
As a fan of horror films, many remakes included (Hills Have Eyes, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and House of Wax some of my favourites), I look forward to seeing this nevertheless

Haha!

The only horror remake that springs to mind that I enjoyed was The Thing. I just can't see why they feel the need to remake all these 80's classics that don't even look dated.

There's supposedly a Hellraiser remake in the works. Don't even want to imagine how they're going to butcher Barker's original

Rob Zombie's Halloween was the remake that annoyed me the most. Trying to humanise Michael and give motive for his killing spree was unbelievably stupid. He turned Myers into an angry redneck with daddy problems.

Star Trek - Saw it the cinema when it first came out, but just seen it again on bluray and it was amazing and I enjoyed it just as much as the first time. I even enjoyed the commentary. I haven't enjoyed a commentary in a long time. The lens flare was a bit annoying though, it hadn't originally annoyed me at the cinema. 8/10

I loved star wars when I was growing up too. I've got wayyyy to much star wars mech around my house. My fav is my R2D2 housephone that makes his noises when someone calls you

I thought the new trekkie film was cool, but then I like Star-trek.

The last film I saw was Outlander. 9/10.

The Omen remake copied the original too closely to have been worth making, especially given that the original doesn't actually seem very dated, yet they ruined the best scene (with the plate-glass decapitation) by making it look like something out of Final Destination! Also, the boy playing Damien in the remake wasn't as freaky looking as in the original!

I guess the remake was worth it just for that release date!

Cypher (2002 starring liu/northam). 9/10 sci-fi thriller with brainwashing. Ludicrous at times but enjoyed a lot.
