Default The Police

How do you feel around police or being near where police are? They make me really anxious for some reason, even when I know I've done nothing wrong.

I'm worse in the car, if a police car is following me I become really nervous and self conscious about my driving - thinking they'll pull me over. God knows what I'd be like if I did get pulled over.

How do you feel around police?

Anxious and guilty. I don't know why guilty, but as soon as I see them I get the feeling that they could catch me at any moment. I'm not too sure what I think they're going to arrest me for though

I'm not that bothered by them, its the security guards in shops that make me nervous.

Sometimes I do feel very uneasy, as if i'm up to no good. Luckily, I very rarely see police officers anyway. I'm more likely to see the Queen walk down my road

I think everyone gets that pang when they see the police. I reckon it's similar with any authority, like you would if a headteacher poked his head in the classroom.

I feel a bit awkward if they're behind me when I'm driving (I think a lot of drivers do) but apart from that, no problems. Been pulled up for spot checks a few times - I just use a polite manner and have had no hassle.

A bit anxious, I wonder if maybe my insurance and tax could be out by accident.

I was stopped once for speeding and just got on with the process.

They make me nervous too but that's because I fancy them rotten and am kind of involved with one! It's one of the reasons I quit driving lessons until I move away from the Bradford police. I feel like they're always judging me although I never feel guilty cos I'm too good to ever be naughty.

I feel like I'm on the wrong website I've been arrested six times in total been banged up in the cells for nights then let out in the morning when I sobered up twice they kept me in for a whole weekend been to court four times and seen the inside of HMP for four and a half months after all that the police do make me nervous as I'm scared they might bang me up again.

I know a few, outside of work they just seem to unable to drop the authoritative attitude, which can come across as aloofness or plain arrogance. Though that's the result of being separated from the rest of society. I feel the same way about the armed forces, when they act like they demand respect.

I totally feel anxious when they're around, even though I'm not doing anything wrong. I always fear being pulled over. I even did a breath test once when I was abroad (all vehicles were getting breath tested), but even though I'm T-total, I was still scared that I'd be done for drunk driving. Totally irrational!

I'm paranoid when they are behind me when I'm driving, because I have been pulled over and you never know if they're watching you. On the street it doesn't bother me as I know I've done nothing wrong.

when i was in my early- mid teens i would along with the group/gang of people i hanged about with would always snarl and hurl abuse at them for the pure fact that most of us was getting banged up atleast once every week.

i've grew out of that behaviour towards them along time ago, though i still have a strong disliking to them whenever i see them, i just chose not to express it in a verbal or physical way like i use to and won't let go no further than my thoughts.

I like the majority of police and what they stand for generally as well as feeling safer around them. Plus their uniform helps

This might sound a bit weird but I usually go through speed cameras 5mph under the speed limit because I fear that one day my speedometer might be wrong

The truth:

They arrested me for drink driving, possesion of cannabis, driving without insurance, possesion of one ecstasy pill back when I was a young lad. A decade ago. I was 20 and well bad. Bad boy.

I feel nervous around the Police, even though I have absolutely no reason to. I tend to feel nervous around all people in authority.
