Gregarious is doing ok, I dropped him a message a couple of weeks ago that he replied to. I'll tell him he's missed, he was always a key part of this place

Hello! I'm not sure how many people around would even remember me as it's been quite a good few years. I lost access to my old account but had a few usernames over my time here, but a lot of people just called me Emma. My husband (RobbyBobson) used to post on these forums too. I also used to attend meets and knew quite a few people from the forum from there. (Poker crew anyone?)

Things have been going well here for the most part. I realized that drinking was affecting my life a lot; it was making my mood worse, I was making terrible decisions and I ended up not liking who I was becoming. I stopped drinking completely and haven't had a drop in a couple of years so I'm feeling more stable now. I was also diagnosed with ADHD and getting treated for that has changed my life immeasurably. We are expecting a baby in a couple of months so I'm hoping to become a grown-up really fast!

I'm aware that sounds very rose-tinted when put together like that but things haven't been all sunshine and rainbows. If you knew me, you might remember that I lived abroad for several years - we came home when COVID started and I've struggled to adapt back to life here. I hadn't imagined how much I'd be affected by reverse culture shock and how lonely it would feel to return from a very specific kind of lifestyle to a place where life has moved on without me and my experiences seem alien to everyone else.

My anxiety had essentially become non-existent but it has come back again - more of a general anxiety than a social one though. I haven't managed to make any friends since returning and life has given me a good few smacks over the head but I'm staying positive and hoping that things are on the up.

The friendships I had with people on here really meant a lot to me. I actually randomly had a dream the other night about someone I once knew from here and that's what made me come and lurk after all this time! I wish everyone - new and old - all the best.

Hi Emma, I've only been on and off the forum, but Metal Goat and Bobson definitely ring a bell. Hormones change in pregnancy could explain the return of anxiety.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. It is really an exciting time

Thank you Clumsy - yes I'm very much hoping that the pregnancy is at least partly to blame, especially since I've come off my ADHD medication until the arrival of Tiny Human. I'm hoping that things will improve once more once Tiny Human is here and hormones and what not settle down.

Jam! Of course I remember you. I've genuinely missed you over the years and have wondered about you too so I'm so happy to see you posting here. It's a good point about the whole expecting a child being anxiety-inducing. I think I keep forgetting that bit and expecting myself to be completely chilled about it.

Congratulations on your second child! How lovely. I'm so so pleased for you.

As a bit of nostalgia, I looked through my visitor messages/private messages I use to get several messages off quite a few different people.

Ones like Pandapop, Between the Bars, Flowerbomb, HelloTiger(who knew my name was/still is Daniel), MattyMarr, Seagull and Mellie.

Now I had a message off Mellie in June this year, so I know she was having a hard time so I need to reply to that.
