My story: Hi @ all!
Guten tag, bonjour, buon giorno, buenos días, hello!
Well ... I adore the English accent, i.e. namely the way Robbie Williams pronounce English words. :D As you can already conclude from my nickname I am a 20year-old student (subjects: French and Spanish) from (West) Germany. I got registered both to stay in touch with the English language and to meet people suffering the same psychological disorders like i do. I am not content with my outward appearance and probably the main problem of the loss of self-consciousness is the fact, that I was born in Germany but do not lookin' thus. I only have the Indian teint from my dad (who died in 2003, my parents were divorced, my mum is originally from Germany) but apart from that there are absolutely no relations to India, the culture or the mentality. It is not like that, that I hate India, I just do not want to get related to it as a foreigner, but simply as German. Thinking of London and the tremendous cultural diversity, I have the impression that you do not have to look "English" to be regarded as an English citizen in GB. (the same about the Netherlands or France) At least that is my impression. I started studyin in October 2005 and since then I am suffering panic attacks which prevent me from visiting the courses. I am anxious about needing to go to toilet in public. I had some traumatic experience when I still went to school. I had flatulence in this lesson (btw it was my English advanced course and all of a sudden I broke wind, and it happened loudly. I am sure that this description sounds funny, but it influenced my life so negatively that I am still suffering in consequence of that embarrassing situation. It was so embarrassing, you can not imagine and from this day, week, month on stress affects my intestine. My whole daily life consists of that problem and combined with my bad self-conscionsness I call it a fatal mixture. I will be in therapy soon and now I am just hoping to get along with that kind of crap (sry...) preventing me from beeing free. I am sure we can all be free and it is worth the attempt. I hope that you ALL will be able to live a happier life, and that i did not make too much grammatical mistakes. All the best to you! |

Re: My story: Hi @ all!
Welcome! Wow, I'm quite impressed at the number of languages you know! I can speak Italian and French, but no German, so I may have to employ you to help me learn before I go to Berlin in September!

Re: My story: Hi @ all!
hey germanstudent,
i can really sympathise with your intestine problems. stress affects my guts really badly...i get terrible heartburn and never know when to eat and when not to eat. i've also had problems with flatulence and it's a total nightmare, something that can ruin all sorts of situations - simply being in a room with someone can become really painful and it makes you feel ashamed as well. i've been wondering when to start a thread about my stomach. probably will at some point, if you don't first! your english is great by the way. auf wiederhoren! (ich kann mein 'umlaut' nicht finden...) |
