Well I did it over text so I didn't have to worry about freaking out or anything, and it was only to my parents and a couple people in school who I can trust. They were really accepting about it though

Great to hear that, abc2, well done! Last time i inquired about working in a charity shop, the woman described all the flamboyant, extroverted characters that work there, and i freaked out and never went back! So well done on being someone who actually went for it. You never know, you might start to find you get on with the people. People are always surprising me

Well done sweep.

First day back at uni for me. Spoke to someone new. Also went to the freshers fair and spoke to a couple of people about societies and stuff. Glad I went, even if being in close proximity to loads of people at once was quite uncomfortable.

Managed to get through a meeting with our landlord about problems with our uni house without being too quiet. Even made a witty comment when towards the end of the meeting and made everyone laugh

Also opened up about my fears of using the phone during a deep conversation with my housemates and it turns out one of them also has the same phobia, just for different reasons. Was very comforting to know I'm not the only one struggling.

That's brilliant! I HATE the phone whether i'm making or receiving a call it always makes me sweat and stutter.

Well done you!!!

Landlord just came round to measure the windows in my room for curtains. He had forgotten my name and asked me what it was and the bloody stammer took over and I couldn't get it out and had to write it down instead. Anyway I'm not beating myself up about it like I normally do - these things just happen and it's not the end the world if they do

I've only ever hugged my little sisters once despite thinking the world of them and that was at a family New Years party a few years ago. The only reason I did it then was because everyone was making a big deal out of it and I just wanted the attention to go away, the hugs were forced and had no feeling. It gets to me that I can't hug them, I can't even put into words what stops me. I feel like shit whenever I watch them hug and kiss my brothers goodbye and then they look at me with the biggest knowing smiles etched across their faces, I don't even smile back like I used to because I can't hide how disappointed I am with myself anymore.

I was looking after them on Friday and the youngest has started to break dance and she landed on the bottom of her spine when attempting a one handed flip (I was given strict orders not to allow her to do any flips but I like to see them happy). She was close to tears but the shock of my hug soon calmed her down before she clocked what was happening and ran into the dining room shouting to her sister that she got a hug.

She must have hurt herself because she went quiet and spent the night sat playing Mario on her DS which isn't like her. I even sat with her, first I was joking around, covering her eyes with her fringe so she couldn't see but it wasn't long before I was able to drop the act and just sit with her and comfort her.

The older of the two is more alive to my lack of hugging and can see my behaviour as odd so when I threatened her with a hug if she didn't go to bed then there was no way she was ever going to bed. It was a hug that quickly turned into a carry up the stairs but at least we both enjoyed it and it beat a forced hug.

That wasn't as long a story in my mind before I started to type, sorry.

Ran my first race today. Finished a quarter marathon (10.55 km) in 58 minutes.

^ is a bit sore and stiff, but oh-so-happy as everything went well.

Congrats. I'd love to run a marathon but general lack of fitness impedes it!

As part of my communications course at college we have to present a pitch and take part in a formal meeting. We had a practise meeting tonight and I was dreading it as I usually get all tongue tied and mix up my words.

My partner and I had done our prep, and structured our presentation. I said my part without too much trouble. At one point during the open discussion I was even arguing my point (kept calm and collected). Totally unlike me

reassuring isn't it,...I too was at a staff training course not too long ago,..and I was probably the calmest person there,...it's funny how we almost defeat ourselves with our negative take on things.

well done for being voted "the best"

I have increased my hours at my voluntary work and am coping fine with it. Also, managed not to get paranoid when I found out that I wasn't invited to a work event. They said they thought I was on holiday this week, not next week, and I believed them instead of assuming the worst!

thanks for that Laura..... ( think I spelt your name wrong the first time )

I love the painting!

has a good bit of character about it,....
I like the idea of the Birch watching over her from the darkness,
could easily be an animation still from a film or something.
liking the idea of scanning in your work to Photoshop

thanks for obliging my request

I cleaned the roof inside the conservatory. Nearly fell of the ladders a few times but it looks much better for the clean.
